Jenkins had interesting tidbit from Bill James. He believes Giants didn’t win more pennants in 60’s because they had below average SS’s Broussard, Scoffield, Fuentes (I only remember him at second, actually) and Lanier.

In hijack #2, in the often told story of Brandon Belt's springs, he had covid, and then mono; he's still weak, etc., spent a week in bed. But his heel is coming along fine. Jeeeez

Brandon Belt's career. Is he a bonafide MLB 1st Baseman you can count on? Or someone you can't wait to replace because you can't?

I took a look at SFG by fielding WAR during the 1960s.  I would extend that to include their second basemen as well.  Here's the fielding WAR ranking from 10 MLB teams by SS and 2B in each year.  Looks like it was particularly true from 1963-1966:


YR, 2B, SS
60 3rd, 5th (of 8)
61 5th, 7th (of 8)
62 2nd, 4th (of 8)
63 9th, 7th
64 6th, 9th
65 10th, 7th
66 9th, 9th
67 4th, 4th
68 2nd, 9th
69 1st, 5th

Hal Lanier was the Giants 2nd baseman 1965-66 and SS 1967-70. He was a very good fielder but a non hitter who also seldom walked

Tito Fuentes was the Giants 2B mostly although more different infield positions SS and 2B until 1971 when he was the regular 2B for 4 years

Same here.  Third in RoY voting in 1967.  Basically an average player, decent second baseman (really good range, but led the league in errors as 2B four times).  Fun to watch.

Happiest Giant player, perhaps ever. Never turned down a pres request. When we needed a couple of guys to walk the streets of Montreal for a feature Tito volunteered and brought along Jimmy Rosario. Known as The Tiger to the photographers.

Sisters:
Hands down the Williams sisters would be on top.  Beyond that, I might look at the Ogwumikes (https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2722400-nneka-chiney-ogwumike-sisters-wnba)?
Brothers:

Probably the Mannings.  But looking at the Stanford affiliated ones:
The Bryan twins
The Lopez twins
The Collins twins
Then it gets harder... maybe the Owusus, and of course, the Whalen "brothers"
If you only need one Stanford affiliated brother, then maybe the Harbaughs or the McCaffreys

For brother/sister, I'm thinking Cheryl and Reggie Miller would have to be the top.
At Stanford, I know of the Fitzmorris siblings and the Keefe siblings.  I am sure there are many others, but I can't think of them.

All of mine are locals.

Brothers: DiMaggios.  Joe in the Hall.  Dom, 7x All Star.  Vince, 10 year career, 2x All Stars. Lots of examples of two brothers who were really strong, but all three DiMaggios made all star teams.

Brother/Sister: Billie Jean (Moffitt) King and Randy Moffitt.  BJK beat Bobby Riggs.  Oh, and also 27 major tennis titles and 39 grand slam titles.  Randy has a 12 year career as a pretty good middle reliever, 10 years with your San Francisco Giants (3.65 ERA).

Sisters: Venus & Serena.  I can't think of a close second.

Not only the bat flip, but flipping the ball (I saw him do it with ball-in-glove, and also back-handed with the meat hand) to Chris Speier to start the DP.

Tito and Speier worked well together.  I remember Tito backhanding a ball well up the middle, flipping from glove to Speier who barehanded and got the runner at first.  No one was on first.  Tito couldn’t have made throw. Speier could.  Course today the ball would have been hit right at someone due to the shift.  Another reason it should go.  It takes away infielders brilliance.
