10-5 now through 6. Bowser led off the seventh with a double, so let's hope we can get him around for an insurance run.

Narrator: Indeed, they did bring him around for an insurance run. 11-5 Card with one gone in the 7th.

The on field announcer breaks up the catfish conversation.

HR Jones. 14-5 on the three run blast

RE: Stanford Baseball - terry - 06-21-2021

Jones with the 3-run homer! That is a back-breaker. It negates whatever momentum Arizona got from scoring 5 straight runs.

RE: Stanford Baseball - JeebsOak - 06-21-2021

That 3 run bomb might be it, Arizona looked defeated.

Bowser and Troy are going to be absolute studs, wow.

Susac isn’t bad for a freshman either

Bottom of the 9th.  Let's get the three outs and await the loser of Vandy and NC State.

Will be interesting to see if UofA skipper jumps for LSU as he is being considered for job!!!!

RE: Stanford Baseball - OutsiderFan - 06-21-2021

Stanford next plays on Wednesday and then would play again Friday if they win Wednesday. Will Beck start after three days of rest, and Williams after three days of rest if Stanford wins the Wednesday game?

Stanford must win three more games to reach the final. I don't see any way in hell that happens, but that's what must happen for Stanford to get there.

RE: Stanford Baseball - PVTree - 06-21-2021

I'm hoping to get Vandy in the elimination game... Figuring we'll go against their third starter. If we play NCST, and advance, we will probably face Vandy's #1 pitcher, and I don't like our chances there.

I'd rather have the wolfies' to pitchers than Vandy's.

RE: Stanford Baseball - OutsiderFan - 06-21-2021

What a great Pitcher's duel between NC State and Vanderbilt.

Jack Leiter was sensational, but he did give up a HR, and that HR was the difference. NC State wins 1-0.

Vandy lost both starts from Rocker and Leiter.  Don't think anyone predicted that.

Stanford will play Vandy on Wednesday at 7pm ET for the right to have to beat what looks like a juggernaut NC State twice.

I will note that baseball is a capricious game, and we looked like a juggernaut against TAMU, while NCState looked like a disaster in their first game against Arkansas.

Not sure how you did your math, but Beck pitched Sat. so if we get to Friday, he will have 5 days rest and Williams would have 4 if we get to Sat.

Texas Tech, not A&M.  Thanks CI.

On another note...

Interesting that Williams complained that the big lead hurt him pitching-wise.

Yes, which is why I asked if Beck would pitch on Wednesday and Williams Friday, each on three days of rest, or if they'd try a bullpen game Wednesday. It sounds like Esquer is going to roll the dice with a bullpen game against Vandy and have a fully rested Beck ready for Friday and fully rested Williams for possible games against NC State.

Seems like a good plan. Vandy's lineup isn't nearly as potent as NC State's.

Re: NC State,

Who are those guys?!? They beat Arkansas on the road in a three game series, and now they've won two straight in the CWS.

Note that Texas Technological College became Texas Tech University, dropping the -nological when making the change.

Presumably, they had their reasons for not mirroring other Techs and becoming the Texas Institute of Technology.
