Given Josh Pakola transferring, I can't imagine how Stanford doesn't have a scholarship available to use on him.
Stanford has recently been listed as "warm" for Taylor on 247, but hasn't offered still. Vanderbilt is the only other warm team for him, we'll see how it plays out I guess.

Chose Stanford as a PWO over Vandy (actual scholarship), Michigan (PWO), and few others.

That is a nice win and has to hurt for Vanderbilt to lose a player to a walk-on offer from Stanford. I think he has very high potential. I have heard good things about Aristotle. He certainly has the physical tools to be successful.

It's a reflection of the program and recent recruiting that some are excited about a PWO. Hopefully the kid can play in two or three years. It took Schafer four.

No... this is a special case. Michigan fans were praying for Harbaugh to offer him, same with ND fans. He's got great potential just because of his body type and the fact that he's only played the sport for not even six months. Can you imagine if he develops?

Phogge is dead wrong.
The kid is RAW and inexperienced, but you can't teach his size, frame, and natural athletic ability. He is a 3 star recruit and might be the best walk-on I've ever seen on video in terms of upside. I would have been upset if he ended up at Michigan or Notre Dame.
These highlights are damn impressive for a kid who played football his whole life, let alone in his first year playing.

As a former Stanford player kept reminding us on TOS, nothing matters except what happens on the field. Glad you’re juiced about the kid OF but let’s see how the pudding tastes in two or three years.

Agree with TC. You hope for the best, but the most likely outcome is that he never becomes a contributor. I liked his film, but it was clearly against physically overmatched opponents, and it will be much tougher to do that against 300 lb athletic offensive linemen.
We can all help he's like Ben Gardner, a 2* player who is an all-conference level player. But even a more modest trajectory, like Thomas Schaffer, would be a win for a guy who came as a preferred walk-on.

This exactly. The offer list would have been at least on par with Thomas Booker's. I'm super intrigued to see what happens when he starts eating Stanford football meals and is in a D1 lifting program. Consider Taylor is actually bigger than this guy as a High School Senior:

I tried finding video of Campbell in High School from 2004 but couldn't, so the Rivals pics will have to do. Look how "skinny" Campbell's arms were.
Maybe Taylor won't be a 12 year NFL veteran in the future, but to think he is an ordinary walk-on is inaccurate, IMO. Do y'all think I would have posted wondering about if some "normal walk-on" had signed yet, as in my post a couple weeks ago with Taylor? Hell no. In fact, I believe Aristotle Taylor is the only walk-on I have ever thought could be a major contributor when signed, in my time following college football recruiting, which now spans 25+ years.
If he dedicates himself to developing into a football player, he will be more productive than most recruits Stanford has signed on scholarship out of high school. That is my prediction.
You say, "Sure, OF, only Vandy offered him." Yes, but we still live in a market economy. Why would anyone pay more (scholarship offer) than they need to get something, in this case Aristotle Taylor? Stanford didn't need to and still landed him. College coaches were able to use his limited time playing the game and no recruiting camps to drive Taylor's "price" down. If that was his Junior year video and he was going on the camp circuit in a few months, he would have blown up as a recruit.

I am certainly glad we got the guy. I don't have any idea how well he will work out and I am pretty sure nobody else does either. I don't agree with the idea he is a "for sure can't miss" choice. It is true that the media does get all agog with the "potential" hype. I think coaches are a bit less susceptible to that hype because they hear so much of it that doesn't pan out. This young man has played a little football and liked it. When he gets in a D1 weight room he may become even stronger, faster, and better. He may also decide he really isn't all that interested in football and wants to do other things.
