I was curious about the record for the sideout era, and went here:

Unfortunately, many of the links, like "Career Records" are broken, resulting in 404s.

ETA: Somewhere I've got hardcopies of the old annual "media guides", which would have the answer. But finding the right box might take a while.

ETA:  Somewhere I've got hardcopies of the old annual "media guides", which would have the answer.  But finding the right box might take a while.

I wish DAPER kept at least a nominal archive of the media guides.  I've checked various on-line sports data repositories and find lots of Stanford-specific history contained in the media guides pubs is now effectively lost.

Nice!  So Theresa Smith back in the 1980s had 189 career aces.

Thanks - did not think to look for media guides on web.archive.org.

SUL's Special Collections group has a few collections of sports-related memorabilia but they're limited in scope.  SUL really doesn't keep a comprehensive repository/database of non-academic department/program-specific publications - those tend to be maintained locally and are subject to availability of $/bodies so YMMV depending on your field of interest.  I'd guess one would need to check further with DAPER's Communications office to see what they have available. Like I was saying though, would it kill them to add links to a few historical media guides on each sport's News or History landing page?

Going back to the setter discussion.
Friday, versus a good opponent, Parks started, won the first set, but struggled.  Yu came in during the second set, seemed to steady the team, and completed the sweep. 

Saturday, against a very weak opponent, Parks started again and breezed through the first set.  Before the set was over, Hambly told Yu, Kurt and Pringle that they would be playing the next set (Kurt and Pringle replacing Blyashov).  So rather than give Parks more in-game reps, the coach rested her and let alternates (and eventually, the other non-starters) play.  

Why not let Parks get some more playing time to build confidence?  Or did she need rest?  
Thoughts?

Start Parks in the first set so she can get her confidence back. Let Yu play in 2 and 3 so she can get a little more experience in the not unlikely scenario that Yu will be needed again next weekend.

Very cool.
What struck me most, was her comment about ranking top 10 academic schools and top 10 volleyball schools, and only Stanford was on both lists.
This encapsulates in a nutshell, what is our brand, or at least, what I hope and believe our brand aspires to be.

Or my jocular take on it:
Q: Which is more important, academics or athletics?  A: Both
