Shaw's QB recruiting choices from '19-'22 probably have something to do with Shaw's difficulty in recruiting WRs in the '21 and '22 classes.  I'm just hoping that the light goes on for McKee during this season so that '23 WR recruits will want to envision catching passes from him.

Also, note that Stanford probably has some natural advantages in recruiting '23 4-star WR Rashid Williams since Williams is from the East Bay and sports a 3.8 GPA. Same with '23 4-star ATH Rico Flores who hails from Folsom and reports a 4.0 GPA.

Flores has so many top offers. He has been traveling to a number of schools prior to school starting

RE: Class of 2022 - Phogge - 08-25-2021

With all the tweets and video announcements the kids act like drama queens. As a noted Stanford linebacker once said, “Doesn’t mean schit until they see the field.”

RE: Class of 2022 - TrumpCard - 08-26-2021

Here's an article on Ayomenar's college decision, which he's going to make public tomorrow:

Note that the journalist who interviewed Ayomenar for this interview is Brian Dohn.  He has a CBall for Stanford and did not change it.

Geaux Cardinal!

247 updated its ratings in light of this game.  Daniels is now up to the #52 QB in their proprietary rankings and the #62 QB in the composite (877 overall).  The last time Stanford took a QB in that ratings range was 2007 (LD Crow).  I suspect we'll see Daniels rise further, but still, there will be a cap for a recruit with only 1 offer from a P5 school, and I doubt that too many schools will waste the effort to try to steal Daniels from Stanford.

RE: Class of 2022 - TrumpCard - 08-26-2021

For those following the numbers of recruits in this class, Dallas Vakalahi counts as C/O 2024 as he plans to take a mission. He seems like a good kid who would fit in at Stanford. He reminds me a little of Uriah Leiataua, though hopefully Stanford will get a different result here.

Don't keep those hopes up.

But here’s hope Elic to Stanford

Bob, commas (or semi-colons) are your friend.

"Here's hope Elic to Stanford" suggests the tweet says that someone is hopeful that Ayomanor commits to Stanford.
"Here's hope, Elic to Stanford" suggests that the tweet says that Ayomanor committed to Stanford, which is a hopeful sign.

Fortunately, the latter was the case.  Also, if you embed the tweet, then that also makes it obvious.  To embed a tweet, just type the appropriate code before and after the link.  This is what it looks like for the link to Ayomanor's commitment.

Code:

PS, great news!

RE: Class of 2022 - TrumpCard - 08-27-2021

Commas or not, I understood Bob was noting that Stanford is on the board at WR. Good news, and let’s hope Shaw lands a couple more.

P.S. Some of Stanford’s commits will play their opener tonight. I’m looking forward to seeing them shine, and to seeing them continue to climb in the rankings.

And I thought Mr. hope Elic was coming to Stanford (and that he half believed in the e e cummings school of capitalization).

Ayomanor has absurd upside. Really like him.

Agreed, and now with a WR, we have at least one commit from every position group.  We're not done, of course, but it means for the first time in forever that no position group has a gap year.

For a wide receiver, he looks strong and built.

RE: Class of 2022 - TrumpCard - 08-29-2021

After a stellar first game, a rough second game for Stanford QB commit Ashton Daniels (though his team did pull out the win):

"Buford quarterbacks Ashton Daniels (5 of 11 passing, 77 yards) and Dylan Wittke (3 of 7, 47 yards) didn’t find consistent success on a night when the Wolves finished with 78 rushing yards to go with the 124 through the air."

There may not be much to this, but it's also a little unusual and worrisome that they have another QB on the same team that is close enough to Daniels to get 7 of the 18 passing opportunities.

RE: Class of 2022 - TrumpCard - 08-29-2021

The coach’s plan is to have them split time. Yes people have flagged this as worrisome. I was hoping that game one created some distance between the two co-starters but apparently not.

RE: Class of 2022 - BostonCard - 08-29-2021

well, he did have this play.  [tweet]https://twitter.com/jonmega12/status/1432169771798343684?s=21[/tweet]

thing is, I don’t know if it is a good or bad play.  Nice strength getting away from the first guy, but he should have just taken the sack; it could have just as easily been an interception.

that's one of those plays when you initially yell NOOOOOOOOOO then YESSSSSSSSSS

In this interview, Reuben talks more about his blocking in the run game than his pass catching. Shaw must be in love.
