For those not following too closely, Stanford matches are due to start at 1:42 on ESPNU
I don't why they estimate down to the minute. There are five two-person team matches within each school match. Each team match can be two or three sets. Impossible to predict. My guess Stanford starts around 2:30 pm PT.
Stanford tweeted starting at 2:05. Warming up now.
Wilson (instead of Andersson) playing with Gusarova at the 5s.

Disappointing loss by Stanford's #1 team Hodel/Kriz. They were looking good up until the last few points. In both sets they couldn't keep the momentum going at the end. At the moment it's an uphill battle for Stanford. No matter what the final outcome this was a successful season.

Stanford has to win at 4 and 5 to win match. Stanford had lead in both sets at the 1 but faded at end of both sets
Stanford wins at 5, up to Belardi Vincent. Beleardi and Vincent win 15-13 3rd set; Stanford moves on

It’s 2-2 now.
What a win by Stanford.

The 3s, Reilly & Sharp got the first point, 21-17, 21-17.
Unfortunately, the 1s, Hodel & Kriz, fell 20-22, 20-22, to tie it.
Ekstrom & Harvey dominated their first set, 21-13, and then lost the second by the identical score. And lost the third 9-15.
So GCU was up 2-1, and needed just one more. Both the 4s and 5s went three sets. In both third sets, it was tied 13-13.
The 5s, Gusarova & Wilson, who have not played much together, finished first, 15-13. Dual tied 2-2.
Then the very reliable freshmen, Belardi & Vincent finished it.
Commentators mentioned that last year Belardi and Vincent played against each other in the juniors tournament at Gulf Shores (and Vincent said Belardi 'kicked her butt').
Stanford takes on the #2 seed at 9:00am PDT tomorrow.
If they were to win that, they'd play a semifinal at 12:30pm.

It sure was fun watching Stanford win a close match in NCAA competition. Hasn't been much of that from other Stanford sports this academic year.

Saturday's matches are on ESPN-2, and streaming on ESPN+.
A replay of today's Stanford/GCU dual is scheduled for 3:00am this morning on ESPNU.

Spiney you should have watched Stanford baseball and softball last night or all season. Wow all thrills
RE: Stanford Beach Volleyball -

Aaaand they're behind schedule again.
They had to play one first round dual this morning because of yesterday's delays.
But the close match-ups can't be finished within the allotted one hour.
The first quarterfinal (UCLA vs. Cal) is 1-1, with at least one, possibly all three of the remaining matches going to three sets.
Then comes FSU vs. LSU, which was scheduled to start 8:00 PDT.
So Stanford vs. TCU probably starting closer to 9:30 than 9:00.

Plus LMU beat Hawaii this morning.
RE: Stanford Beach Volleyball -
johnbar - 05-06-2023
Ucla beat Cal 3-1, finished at 8:27.
ETA: Stanford tweeted they expect their start time to be close to 10:00am PDT.
RE: Stanford Beach Volleyball -

FSU is close to finishing off LSU. Stanford could start by 9:45 or so.
ETA: FSU won at 9:34.
RE: Stanford Beach Volleyball -

Stanford wins first set at 2s and 5s; TCU takes 1s, 3s, and 4s.

I was referring to just the first sets. But yes, TCU won in straights at the 1s and 3s. Stanford forced third sets on the other courts, but the 5s were first to fall. Gusarova & Wilson did hold off three set/match/dual points.
TCU has four players from Spain, plus a couple more international players.
