Been quite a series. Fun. Last night was biggest win in at least 5 years. They get Buehler tonight. Going 1-3 after winning game 1 and the game 2 debacle would have hurt. Thanks to Dave Roberts and the pitch count for removing Urias. He was dealing.
And Kudos to Kapler for saving Buster for that lead off at bat vs Jansen. He’s had good success against him, albeit all singles. Perfect spot to use him.

Roster problem. When the four come off who gets cut? Probably Tauchman, Slater, Estrada and Vosler. Maybe a pitcher (Brebbia?). Wade way too valuable.

Yes, good on Vosler for taking a bigger lead. But the guy covering second (who is normally a third baseman) should’ve stretched for the throw like a first baseman. Game of inches!

Giants now 61-35 (.635) at the 96 game mark, 26 over .500 and ahead of Boston by 2.5 games and 3 games ahead of the Dodgers for MLB's best record. And they've been remarkably consistent. In the four-month season, the G's have had winning records of .615, .643, .640 and .647.
That's a pace to win 103 games. Giants are 6-7 against the Dodgers, 1-2 against Seattle and 2-4 against the Cardinals (though they have a 22-20 run advantage over St. L). they're .500 (2-2) against Pittsburgh -- until the finish of tonight's game. And the Giants have a winning record against the other 11 teams they have faced in 2021.
Oddities: only one Giants win was a walk-off, while 8 of their opponent victories were by walkoff. Longest win streak, 5 games (which matches their longest winning streak in 2010); longest losing streak, 4 games. Giants are 12th of 15 NL teams in attendance at 584,675.

Who knows what this week brings via trades. Right now, with no changes (by trade or injury) Tauchman will be gone as soon as next position player comes off IL. I’d say Vosler is second on list. Options, being what they are. Estrada is going to show something in next 10 days or so. So if he plays real well, he will make it difficult. But he’s probably third. Then a pitcher. If Brebbia still has options, he has to be the guy. Unless he turns it around. I had an analytics junkie vehemently argue with me when I had the audacity to suggest that as he’d given up 13 hits in his last 51/3 innings, he is is not pitching well. (Then he got raked against the Dodgers, so it’s now 15 in 6) You see, his peripherals are good. He’s striking out about 25% of the guys he’s faced. And his .BABIP is very high. Meaning he’s just unlucky.
When they add up the peripherals for each team and determine who wins based on that, I’ll buy fully into the peripherals bit. Plus, it’s a different argument. I never said he’s a bum or that he can’t turn it around. Just that right now, he ain’t throwing well. Plus watching him, his stuff is underwhelming and he’s had poor command within the strike zone. Way too many pitches in the hit me zone.
The analytic junkies are unbearable. They know it all. And it’s all math. Stuff like Batting Ave, RBIs, Wins and ERA don’t matter. (Cause they aren’t predictive). No such thing as clutch. Stolen bases are for idiots. Too much of a chance of losing an out. And bunting? Oh my god, you must really be dumb….
BTW - strikeouts for pitchers are a dime a dozen. I dont even pay attention (except when it’s outrageous, like that relief pitcher on Milwaukee last year that averaged about 18 Ks per 9. Course, by the time they were in the playoffs he was hurt). I do look at strikeout to walk ratio. But strikeouts? Hell, seems like damn near everyone averages close to a strikeout per inning.

Lex, sounds right to me re who goes. Slater probably sticks unless they trade for right handed hitter like Marte. I assume Estrada has options. He's been terrific but could continue to slug in Sacramento. They say Estrada is ultimately more suited for 2nd than SS so Dubon may be ratcheted down. I like Estrada alot.

That wouldn't be the world's worst thing. I'm not a fan of Dubon. I realize he can play many different positions, but he seems to make a lot of physical and mental errors.
And I get that he's having an off-year. He hit .274 in both 2019 and 2020, down to .234 this year. OPS is down 100 points, too. Poor range as an infielder (though excellent range as a center fielder). I guess I'm not really sold on him.

He's extremely versatile, will develop more power over couple years, and brings energy. He can play 3b, ss, 2b and of, including cf. Not bad. Solano, Flores, Longoria, andCrawford are all on back side of career Do Giants have good replacements?

They have plenty of prospects, not many MLB ready.
Around the Foghorn publishes weekly updates on each level of the Giants farms. I still don’t like that they ditched the names of the leagues. PCL went back to 1903. I have a 1903-1954 record book that I bought at the old Roos Brothers on Market.

PCL had an interesting history. For example, it was such a good league that in 1952, it was granted the status of "open" and therefore distinguished itself from other minor league teams. More fun history here:

Giants beat the Dodgers 2-1 tonight on an unearned run coming from a Todd Bellinger throwing error. Austin Slater led off, went 2 for 3 and scored the first run. Rogers got the win, he's 2-1.
Giants are 63-37 in game 100. I'm just starting to think they may be for real...
They're 1.5 ahead of the next best record in MLB, the Red Sox; and three games ahead of the Dodgers.
