Class of 2022 #20 overall SG/PG Indya NIVAR on her forthcoming decision between NC State or Stanford:

Hopefully for Stanford's sake, this doesn't follow the Skylar DIGGINS vibe of deciding to stay close to home and help the local state team to get to the next level.
Because also waiting for her at NC State is the prospect of teaming up with the briliant 5'5 PG Diamond JOHNSON as the Wolfpack backcourt 1-2 punch. However, she also has to compete for playing time with five other upperclassmen guards besides JOHNSON:
- 5'9 Aziaha JAMES (#21 overall for 2021 - Collegiate Girls Basketball Report)
- 6'0 Madison HAYES (#28 overall for 2020 - ESPN Hoopgurlz)
- 5'8 Jessica TIMMONS (#45 overall for 2021 - Collegiate Girls Basketball Report)
- 5'6 Genesis BRYANT (#46 overall for 2020 - Prospect Nation)
- 5'6 Kendall MOORE
On the other hand, Kiki RICE going to UCLA means that the Stanford lead guard position is for NIVAR to have during her entire college career, plus the opportunity to play with the country's best center (BETTS) for 4 years and the best PF (BRINK) for two years.

UCLA is a great school and Rice will thrive there. Maybe the Bruins will be firs women's team to cut down the nets with a 4 guard lineup. The way the Warriors revolutionized the men's pro game (which is trickling down everywhere), it would not surprise me.

The international flavor is undeniable, with ANSTLEY (Australia), BESSOIR (France), BUENAVIDA (Spain), DUGALIC (Croatia) and SONTAG (Germany). All are or have been members of their country's U19 national teams, while DUGALIC played for Croatia in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics
New here. UCLA grad and wbb program donor. Surprised as anyone Rice committed to the Bruins as I thought she'd pick the Cardinal.
Great summary of UCLA's potential 2022 lineups. One minor correction. Dugalic was born in the Chicago-land area to SERBIAN immigrant parents. She holds both US and Serbian citizenship, earned a spot on the Serbian Senior National Team, and got to play with pros on a team that won the 2021 Eurocup and took fourth place in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Looking forward to seeing the Pac-12 shine against the other P5 conferences this season.

That hurts for this year's UCLA WCBB team but the good thing is, they still have 6'4 ANSTLEY (2019 Australia U19 national team starting center) and 6'4 DUGALIC (Serbia senior national team) to man the post.
Hopefully, BESSOIR will be back at full strength next season when Kiki RICE eventually joins UCLA as their highest ranked ever recruit.

For their sake, I will be rooting for UCLA to snag some more top recruits in back to back classes (not at the cost of us, of course) but so that the best case scenario pans out in Westwood.
It will be interesting to see how the attendance or interest in their program grows.
In many ways, it's a bit surprising neither USC or UCLA has taken off with all the prime time recruits coming out of Southern California and the West in general, paired with the overall athletic and academic (and desirable location) of these two schools. Of course, Kathy Olivier had her moments with the 2006 squad that on paper looked real good. Nikki Caldwell got the program in to the top 10 and had some promising recruits lined up before she dipped. Now Cori will take some of her 2014 recruiting experience and apply it here in lining up multiple top tier classes in hopes of bringing them to another level. USC, of course, poor Mark T with all the injuries over the years despite some epic recruiting classes. Gottlieb has some top potential recruits it seems. I also think of Cal with their periods of tip top recruiting classes, the Devanei Hampton years and Layshia Clarendon squad. None of the 3 have been able to maintain, so perhaps this is the start of something.

They already have Class of 2023 #20 overall 5'6 PG Jada WILLIAMS (who was outstanding as the starting PG of the gold medal winning 2021 USA U16 national team), and they also have their recruiting focus on Class of 2023 #2 overall 6'0 SF/SG Juju WATKINS (also a recruiting target of Stanford) and #4 overall 6'4 Center Breya CUNNINGHAM (who, unfortunately, did not include Stanford in her 8 schools of interest).
I, for one, will plan to attend their WCBB games when Kiki RICE joins UCLA next season, since I now reside about 5 miles from UCLA, when I'm in the LA area of my annual itinerant schedule.

Well, at least Stanford is included in Class of 2022 #23 overall 6'4 Center Amanda MUSE Final 6, but UCLA is also included in her Final 6, and she lives in Brentwood, which is right across the Westwood area (where UCLA is) along the CA-405. Geez!

Well, at least Stanford has a shot at MUSE, as she is the highest rated Class of 2023 remaining post player that Stanford can recruit, since both #3 overall TOOMEY and #4 overall CUNNINGHAM did not include Stanford in their recuiting targets (and I don't think #13 overall del ROSARIO and #14 overall VASCOCELOS are also interested).
I see that 6'6 Maggie MENDELSON is now listed as the #32 overall in the Class of 2022, after reclassifying from the Class of 2023. She was also the #2 overall Class of 2023 recruit in women's volleyball before she reclassified. Any updates on her recruitment? Because she would be perfect for Stanford, as their WCBB desperately needs a back-up for BETTS starting with the 2023-2024 season while their WCVB needs a top starting MB with the uncertainty hovering over current RS freshman MB Leilah SMITH's playing status. Maybe she can play volleyball exclusively during her freshman season next year (since PRECHTEL is still around), then play both basketball and volleyball starting her sophomore season.

I'm waiting hopefully for Nivar. But, if we end up with a second miss, isn't it plausible that this opens the door for Plan B where the Hull sisters co-term and return? I for one would enjoy watching them play for another year.
Obviously, this would make 2023 a more critical recruiting year, but it's not like I'm upset at the lineup that results.

With the current and recent upswing of PAC 12 WCBB in terms of:
- NCAA Tournament results (1 NCAA champion, 1 NCAA runner-up, and 6 Final Four participants over the past 6 NCAA tournaments) and
- Recruiting (7 of Top 10 / 11 of Top 22 from the Class of 2022 heading to PAC 12 teams)
we hope that future Top 50+ recruits continue to realize that the PAC 12 is the conference to be in for many years to come.
That mindset should convince the likes of Class of 2023:

NC State hosts South Carolina tomorrow. This is a big time matchup on ESPN, even a loss for NCSU could still drum up excitement around the program.
I like Nivar on video. Fluid athleticism, reminds me a bit like a taller Amber Orrange. I hope ya'll get her.
If not, maybe Tara considers another transfer. Harvard's coach announced her retirement and former top 60 guard Abby Meyers entered the transfer portal out of Princeton.
