Who did Willie Mays get his first hit against what was the hit?

RE: Sports trivia thread - Phogge - 04-09-2021

Warren Spahn. Dinger.

So, tonight Joe Musgrove pitched a no-hitter for my Padres.  Who was the first Padre to pitch a no-hitter?

Joe Musgrove.  April 9, 2021.

Eat your heart out, Randy Jones......

Finally, every franchise in the game can now say that one of their pitchers has thrown a no-no.

Yup, been a long 53 years.  Best part is that a local boy did it.

How did the run score when Marichal beat Spahn 1-0 in 16? Asking because I don’t know the answer.

RE: Sports trivia thread - BobK - 04-10-2021

Say Hey and say it good bye

I get the two a bit confused because I think he was 0 for 16 before he got the first one off Spahn and I suspect it was he who broke up the 16-inning duel, also off Spahn.

On the subject of no-hitters, two have been thrown on the same day exactly once.  Who were the pitchers to do so?

BC

RE: Sports trivia thread - Phogge - 04-11-2021

Wild guess. Was one by Jim Bunning?

RE: Sports trivia thread - Class_of_75 - 04-11-2021

Valenzuela and Stewart.

RE: Sports trivia thread - Mick - 04-11-2021

These Giants pitchers have thrown 17 no-hitters in club history. Here are six Giants no-hitter questions:

Amos Rusie
Rube Marquard
Hooks Wiltse
Christy Mathewson
Jesse Barnes
Jeff Tesreau
Carl Hubbell
Juan Marichal
Gaylord Perry
Ed Halicki
John Montefusco
Jonathan Sanchez
Madison Bumgarner
Tim Lincecum
Matt Cain
Chris Heston

1) All of the above Giants have pitched no-hitters, except one.  Which one?
2) Who are the only two Giants to have thrown multiple no-hitters?
3) Who is the only Giant to pitch a perfect game?
4) One of these pitchers threw a no-hitter with no hits, walks or errors. But it was not a perfect game. Why?
5) Who was the only Giants rookie to throw a no-hitter?
6) Chief Meyers and Roger Bresnahan are Giants who caught multiple no-hitters. Who's the only Giants catcher to catch three no-hitters?
