Ernie Nevers? Imagine Phogge saw him play in person. . . .

Phogge is almost never wrong. Chuck Shea 1957 is the answer

Glyn Milburn. Or Phil Francis.

Chuck Shea! That's not a name you hear a lot in Stanford Football. I figured we might have to go all the way back to Ernie Nevers ....
I looked up Shea's stats - 840 yards rushing but somehow 0 rushing touchdowns. Wow, different game. Shea did get one receiving TD. Stanford was coached by Chuck Taylor and went 6-4 that year.
Chuck Shea, 1957, Stanford, PCC
RB / 10 games / 163 carries / 840 yards rushing / 5.2 yards/attempt / 0 touchdowns / 84.0 yards/game

Speaking of 1957. Stanford lost at home to Oregon 27-26 ending any chance at the Rose Bowl. What Stanford player and future actor missed two extra points

I don't think that's accurate. Stanford didn't have a rushing touchdown all year that year?
1957 Stanford Cardinal Stats | College Football at Sports-Reference.com. Stanford scored 227 points that year, on 11 passing TDs and 0 rushing TDs? I think Shea rushed for two TDs against Cal alone...he scored both TDs in a 14-12 win.
He scored two TDs against Washington:

The Stanford football media guide includes lists of Stanford's statistical leaders for each season. It shows that Chuck Shea had 7 rushing TDs in 1957.

At least confirms the rushing title
Plus he was living not far from my daughter and family.

I looked that one up. I'd forgotten he was a Stanford guy.
Hint: not Richard Boone

Al Harrington is the answer. Professor at U of Hawaii regular on the old Hawaii 5 -0 show.

There are only two hitters in MLB history who finished their careers with more than 80 batting runs above average, more than 120 fielding runs above average and 60 baserunning runs above average. The "above average" statistic compares the player's average with the mean average of other players in the league on a per-game basis.
Name them.

Fielding, batting, and base running excellence? Maybe Mays? I doubt it could include Bonds since his end of career fielding must drag him down.

Mays is one of the two. 804 batting, 79 baserunning, 185 in the field. Phogge had the other in an email to me, Ichiro Suzuki. His numbers were 84, 62, and 121 in the same three categories.

Years ago Jim Marshall of the Vikings picked up a fumble and ran the wrong way for a 49er safety
Who fumbled for the 49ers and who threw the pass that the receiver caught and fumbled?

A vivid memory from my youth - circa 1963?? Though I grew up in Denver, so not a 49er fan at that time. I think the QB was George Mira. I feel like I should remember who fumbled, but I can't shake that name out of the cobwebs.
