Excited that Nivar is coming to Stanford... question though. Is she slated to play point guard, since that's our greatest need? If so, a bit worried that her career average is 2.3 assists/game... but regardless, great to see other great players surrounding Betts!

Mendelson has a top 4 of Washington, Texas, Nebraska and Minnesota.

Nunu Agara now added to class of '23 ... thanks, jad

Maxpreps put Nivar on their 3rd team All American list.  That list includes 4 2023 players on the 1st and 2nd teams.  If you look at 2022 players only, it puts Nivar in their top 10 players and somewhere between 7 and 9.

RE: Women's Basketball Recruiting (Class of 2022+; split May 2021) - CompSci87 - 11-18-2021

I've moved Mendelson to no longer possible since Stanford is not in the top four she listed.

Should we wait until May when the season is over to split the thread again? Maybe that's the best time.

Been thinking about this too. I would suggest we get BobK, as our MC of WBB recruiting, to start a new one once we're relatively sure we're done for the Class of 2022. (Are we?) This thread is a pretty unwieldy 38 pages already, and if we're only focused on Class of 2023+ now, we might as well make a clean break as soon as it's clear 2022 is signed, sealed, and delivered.

RE: Women's Basketball Recruiting (Class of 2022+; split May 2021) - BobK - 11-18-2021

Time for the split Compsci. Leaving the 2022 signees at the top.
Yes we could sign someone in April but more likely a foreign player than a USA player at this point Thanks

weird question: wondering if anyone knows status of Paris Clark? She committed to UCLA but then apparently didn't sign yet. Wonder if there is any news or hints at too many UCLA incoming guards (and whether she might be a fit for us since we appear to still have an opening)...

For a two-sport athlete, she sure leaned heavily towards top volleyball programs with these four.

ESPN article from this morning indicates she has re-opened her recruitment and will sign in the Spring. Likely due to the influx of guards UCLA has now with Kiki Rice.

A little OT, but I found these comments interesting from the parent of now ex-UConn freshman Saylor Poffenbarger who elected to transfer. Fortunately, Stanford/Palo Alto, the broader Peninsula and proximity to SF offer quite the experience for our students.

"It's been a conversation, and it's not all basketball," Amy Poffenbarger said regarding Saylor's decision. "The academic [side] wasn't super-engaging, there wasn't much to the campus life, and there wasn't the ability to get out and meet a lot of people. Unfortunately that part of college life ... that part wasn't happening for her."

"Although she previously commit to UCLA, NO. 21 Paris clark officially reopened her recruitment for now, and it appears she will make an announcement in the late signing period."

Was Stanford interested in Clark before she signed with UCLA?

intrigued to hear if we recruited her previously. She attends LI Lutheran (where Celeste Taylor now of Duke went).

And what about Poffenbarger? 6’1” combo guard with an outside shot. I don’t recall her being recruited on the west coast, particularly since she seemed set on UConn.

This was posted somewhere on the Cardboard (don't recall where), and very extensively on the Boneyard, but most people are speculating Oregon may be likely as her bf is on the football team and Oregon was one of her final 4 schools (Stanford was not). Not sure whether she fits Oregon's needs right now (narrator: she doesn't, really), but she can't play until fall 2022 anyway, and Oregon has had a reasonable amount of year-over-year turnover, so who knows what the future might accommodate...
