It seems likely she will do it on the PAC-12 networks as our next 6 games are on the PAC-12 networks. (It would require at best a 2-4 record if she does not hit 1203 in those 6 games.  But, the PAC-12 is clearly the best WBB conference.  It is a gauntlet.)

I'm really hoping she gets the record against Oregon, and ends the year at 1224-266.

Somebody bring a Stanford jacket to put around Tara so she doesn't have to be so cold after a congratulatory drenching.  One of those parkas that the swim & water polo teams use?

I remember the game she passed Pat Summit, we played at Pacific and ESPN did pickup that game kinda last minute. I hope they pickup again as it should be nationally televised. Oregon at home would be great because that's a game we should win convincingly. She needs to pull out that T=DAWG parka.

3:50 a.m. thought: Is Stanford eligible to host the first and second rounds of the tourney (if we finish high enough) due to the locker room construction?

We do have locker rooms just the older ones.

At least four?

So weird how in 2004 they remodeled remodeled the entire place in about seven months, but just redoing the locker rooms is taking at least 2x that.

Maybe because John A is no longer around to crack the whip???

It’s not a remodel per se but also an expansion. Goes out under the street

Cam is Pac-12 Player of the week this week, for the third time this season

Kansas defeats Baylor -- one of the last unbeatens -- 66-87. A really bad loss, Kansas with a record of 7-7 going into the game.

Tara article in the chronicle. Hopefully more great content to come in the next few weeks about her.

Great story. Thanks. But no doughnuts?

No donuts. And since reading this, donuts are all I can think about...

Wonderful article. And re that 1200, I keep wondering when someone in the national media is going to take note of the fact that Tara took that year off to coach the Olympic team, and if she hadn't, she would have passed Coach K last year

I could be wrong but I think the wins for that year were credited to Tara? I thought I heard that somewhere although it sounds absurd.

Somehow I don't think Tara was thinking about her career wins total when she took the Olympic team opportunity.

I doubt Geno was either, when he took TWO years off to coach the Olympic team.

Tara will deservedly get the ink this year, and if Geno manages to hang on for another year after she retires, he'll get his.

I'm sure Tara wasn't concerned with her record in 1995. But re Geno, I don't recall him taking any years off from UConn. He did coach the Olympic team, but it wasn't a full year off thing like Tara.

I'm still struggling with the 1200 number. If you add up the Ohio State and Stanford wins, that's 1142. No 1995-96 Stanford season included. Total Olympic team wins are 60, I think. Are they included? Seems odd. But what about the 42 for Idaho.

Please, someone, ?????

RE: WBB 2023-2024 Season - M T - 01-11-2024

I’m not sure what confuses you. It is 1200 college head coaching wins. See Wikipedia. (The College Head Coaching Record section)  No college wins credited to her in the 1995-96 year.

That other coach has wins credited to him each year since he started.

Thanks. The site I was looking at had the wrong number of wins for Ohio State -- and that's the difference.
And yes, that other coach never lost a year or wins to the Olympic team coaching. Further, he was credited with wins when he was out sick and his assistants were the coaches.  I don't think that has ever happened for Tara.  . . .

So, I repeat, Tara would be already ahead of Coach K, and even more ahead of that other coach, if she hadn't taken that Olympic year off.

RE: WBB 2023-2024 Season - BACardinal - 01-11-2024

My bad. I was thinking of wins credited to the head coach when they were out sick and assistants were acting head coach for the game.

FWIW, On ESPN broadcast of TCU game, announcers noted that Agnes Emma-Nnopu graduated in three years from Stanford with a degree in Neuroscience.

RE: WBB 2023-2024 Season - 82 Card - 01-11-2024

When assessing other coaches, it's worth noting that the winning-est coach of all time did not post a winning season at Stanford until her third year. Even the great ones need a little time to work their magic.
