Final guess - Former Giant tormenter and Dodger closer Eric Gagne, who played in the same timeframe as John Smoltz. Tough to win the NL West back when both the Dodgers and the Braves were peaking.

Eric Gagne was 2-3 in 2003 when he won the Cy Young award.

In celebration of the last Pac-12 Stanford vs. Cal Big Game, I thought I'd ask a question about Stanford Stadium.

When Stanford Stadium was opened in 1921, it had 60,000 seats, making it the second-largest university stadium in the United States. Which university had the largest stadium at the time? Which university did Stanford supplant as the owner of the second-largest university stadium?

Good guess. Yale had 70,000 seats at the time. Princeton had 42,000 seats, they were #2.
