Thanks, I was wondering what that was all about. Radio commentator didn't seem to know.

So the third quarter ends Stanford 58 tOSU 49.
Smith has 25 points and 14 rebounds, and 2 blocks, including one on Mavunga. Mitchell is up to 17 points, though, and keeping tOSU in the game. Can we summon one more good quarter? That was a 25 point quarter for us--a terrific offensive quarter, but we gave up 23 and perhaps are letting tOSU get into a bit of rhythm.

Wilson with two more treys! 6/7! Oh my!
Quite her coming out party. And Mitchell for tOSU is 1/6 from three point range.
Turnovers are killing us, however. We have 19 so far.
We turn it over inbounding, Tara calls a TO. tOSU has cut the lead to 1. Then they nail a three and take a two point lead. First lead for tOSU.
tOSU with a four point lead after making a couple of free throws. Only 3 minutes left.
Anna Wilson hits her head on the floor? Oh no. Let's hope for the best.

...She's okay, apparently! Missed 2 free throws, but stayed in and soon hit a 3!

She didn't hit her head on the floor. Someone swiped and hit her in the face.

Thanks. I got the "hit head on the floor" bit from the radio announcer. Glad to hear it wasn't true.

We hit a wall in OT. But, what a shooting showcase by Wilson.

I lost internet connectivity and didn't make it back until deep into overtime.Â
A sad ending to a good game. But if anyone had told me we would take tOSU to overtime after witnessing that first game, I would not have believed it. Many good things in this loss.

It looked like she did hit her head on the floor at first, but when they showed the replay you could see the swipe and then the way her grabbed her head it looked like she did hit her head. I am really glad she didn't.

A disappointing loss considering they had the lead for so long, but overall they played so much better than their first meeting. It shows that they can play with the elite teams.

I did the summary at the top.
We led for 33 minutes, and valiantly fought back to send it to overtime with 4 seconds left. We outrebounded them. Anna Wilson showed she can be a phenomenal offensive weapon. Alanna Smith turned in a Jayne/Nneka/Chiney type of night.
Given how we played our first game, I can't be too disappointed with this one.

Following the game on my phone, I saw we had a decent 5-8 point lead throughout most of the game, so it was disappointing that Ohio State was able to rally and win the game in OT. That would have been a significant win on our record.
I am pleased that we put up a significantly better fight against the Buckeyes than we did just two weeks ago and without Brit in the lineup. That is good progress in half a month.
Giving up the offensive rebound and turnovers have been our two biggest problems in our three losses. Not watching the game, I don't know if our turnovers tonight were due to Ohio State's defense and a continuation of some sloppy errors. Either way, we need to cut them down. Whether it's a turnover or an o-board, we can't give great teams extra chances to score points, especially when our offense isn't up to par, yet.
Speaking of our offense, it seems to me that the Vegas team has sparked some firepower on our team. We are still a bit streaky for my liking. Alanna had a monster game and Anna showed off her three point shooting tonight, but everyone else was largely quiet and no one else was in double digits besides those two. In comparison, all five starters for Ohio State scored in double figures.
Getting Brit back will hopefully help. Hopefully having both Brit and DiJonai in there at the same time will mean defenses can't focus on just one of them and at least either of them can have a big game.
But even though we gave up 90+ points to the Buckeyes, we played better defense on Mavunga and contained Mitchell for a good chunk of time. These are good signs of progress just two weeks into the season.
Now, we can head back to the Bay Area, rest for a couple days, take care of San Francisco in the city and see how well we match up against Baylor in Waco before getting to our finals break and hopefully seeing Brit return to the floor in the games before Christmas.
