I was the only person at the table who Tara didn't call out for applause during the event.  :D

I didn't know Alanna Smith was Kate Paye's daughter.  ;D

I noticed the possibility of misreading the list as an apposition, but didn't see a good way to reword it.

LOL. Simply put the reference to Kate and her daughter after the professor. 🤗

Jenna Brown 2nd team All American on USA Today.  5 per team.

Max Preps  has Lexi Hull 1st team All American plus a number of potential recruits here

Re: WBB Recruiting: With updates - 2006alum - 04-10-2018

Thanks for info, BobK! Awesome to hear both. Funny that Lexie was First Team for Max Preps and left off of USA Today and vice versa for Brown (she wasn't even among the honorable mentions for Max Preps, and they a FIFTH team plus another 20 or so honorable mentions, so it's almost like they just forgot she exists).

Those oddities, plus ESPNW no. 5 Nelson-Ododa being FOURTH team for Max Preps, along with news of former top 5 recruit Rellah Boothe transfering from UT to a Juco is really a reminder of how tenuous these are. But Hull clearly improved her national standing with the national championship run. Will be interesting to see if ESPNW does a final re-ranking of their 2018 recruits when they do a final analysis of class rankings.

Brunelle committed to ND (think I would have rather her gone to UConn). many saying Fudd may follow since her and Brunelle very close.

Re: WBB Recruiting: With updates - BosCard - 04-15-2018

I’m going to choose to believe that the chance to be coached by the hall of fame coach who also coached Azzi’s namesake makes us still in play.  Plus Katie Lou I’m sure was close to her sisters but certainly didn’t follow them to Stanford.

Just a guess, but I would think that makes Amihere less likely for ND.

Re: WBB Recruiting: With updates - TheFarm07 - 04-15-2018

Muffet immediately cashing in on N.D.'s national title with a brobdingnagian recruit for the Irish.

I hope both Amihere and Jones will look to our program and see teaming up with Kiana, Maya, the Hulls and Jenna Brown, along with a Stanford degree as their preferred path.

I know we have commits, like Van Gytenbeek in 2020 and Anna Wilson previously, signaling their intent very early on, but may this be a good sign that Amihere and Jones haven't chosen any school yet and may be waiting to finish up their junior year academics to see if they can get admitted to Stanford before deciding?

Just trying to find any potential good signs

I would also think that anyone who had suffered an ACL would think Stanford was an even better deal.  Playing in the WNBA or elsewhere is not assured, even for the most talented players--as anyone who has had a serious injury knows.  Just ask Aly Beebe, who graduated in HumBio in 2016.  Or ask Chiney--whose professional career has been marred by injury, but who can choose from a variety of wonderful career options whenever basketball is over.  A Stanford degree is far more valuable, far more certain, and far more durable than an athlete's fragile body.  Players who have been injured should know this better than those who still believe they are indestructable.

Jenna Brown wins the National High School Senior Girls' Basketball Athlete of the Year by the National High School Coaches Association.

It's weird as we talked about in this thread that Brown didn't even made any of the five teams or honorable mentions by MaxPreps, but is the player of the year for another organization.

Updating soon.  After Tennis ?

RE: WBB Recruiting: With updates - 2006alum - 05-22-2018

Going through this thread just made me realize: kpeter, you used to be 81Alum, right? I had started to get worried that I hadn't seen anything from 81 in quite a while, but the realized all our old WBB posts of past games were 81's posts but now under the new moniker. Also explains how we suddenly have a new member with so much insider WBBall knowledge!

I'm trying to get my old name back.  Somehow it got screwed up in the conversion to the new system.  Can anyone help?

This was discussed somewhere. I'll try to find it. Yvonne and probably some of the other new mods know how. I've been too buried at work to do any real admin work here and haven't learned to drive the new software yet.

RE: WBB Recruiting: With updates - 2006alum - 05-22-2018

I checked but mods don't have the ability to change usernames. But you can go to User CP and then "change username" and it'll give you the option to type in the new one.

Thanks 2006, but when I go to User CP I cannot find an option to change username.   Is it under "profile" or "miscellaneous" or where?

I have never changed my username.  I think there was a distinction when I first joined up to create one name for the account (I'm calling it an account--I don't really know what it was) and a different name for the username.  81alum was always my username and kpeter was invisible but an account? name.  Somehow the new system discarded my username and started to use my account name in its place.  I did not do anything to request that switch--it just happened.

RE: WBB Recruiting: With updates - 2006alum - 05-22-2018

Hmm. When I go to User CP, there's a Menu on the top left, and below it subheadings Messenger, Your Profile, and Miscellaneous. Under Your Profile, click on Change Username.

I don't think these are mod-only features because there is a separate Mod CP and this features seems to be specific only to the user, because it asks for your new username and also your password. If that doesn't seem to work/show up, I'd just shoot Yvonne/Admin a PM.

RE: WBB Recruiting: With updates - BobK - 05-22-2018

I changed my name back. But it took
A day or two after I changed it.   Both bobbk and Bobk appear for a bit then bobk
