Who gets credit for the forced fumble?

This is so much fun!

I keep wondering why he's taking those out, very nice result for us!

Special teams has been damn good today.

RE: Next Starts Now (Stanford @ USC Game Thread) - BostonCard - 09-07-2019

I think we are going to need to work on the jump ball play some more in practice.

Okay. Play calling back to normal. . ..

RE: Next Starts Now (Stanford @ USC Game Thread) - ChicagoCard - 09-07-2019

Tobe Umera. Spelling?

I’ll take the field goal and two touchdown lead, but a touchdown would have been a back breaker.

I mean, we are not going to score a TD on every drive. I think anyone would
have taken TD, TD, FG to start this one on the road with a QB making his
first college start.

Umerah recovered it, but I think Nathaniel Peat got credit for forcing the fumble, as I think he got a hand on jones before Jones collided with his blocker (who actually caused the fumble).

Great point. . .. Ugh.

I think that's more on Mills making that choice to throw, although who knows maybe it was his first read. I'm normally pretty skeptical of criticisms of playcalling but fades are =inefficient routes. I can understand doing them on occasion, especially with a size mismatch like that, but on 3rd and short it seems like a poor choice, especially when Mills has been underthrowing them like that.

Am I mistaken -- or is the Trojan crowd QUIET, after the Fumble?
Good Guys Wearing White Road Unis 17-3 early in Q2.

Mills is not throwing EARLY enough; still in his High School tempo, where he had a lot of time.
The O-Line is giving him time, and he is making the mistake of taking time.
USC has young, but very QUICK DBs, all rated 4-stars or better out of high school.

RE: Next Starts Now (Stanford @ USC Game Thread) - ChicagoCard - 09-07-2019

I was wrong, it was McGill who caused the fumble.

RE: Next Starts Now (Stanford @ USC Game Thread) - murky - 09-07-2019

This is their best starting field position.

Agree. We’ve run the fade/jump ball successfully plenty and have better than average success (or at least we did last year), but on third and short from the 14, I might have gone with a slant or a short pass to Wilson or weddington.

Damn. Gotta give Slovis and St brown credit. We had a safety coming over and the throw was just about perfect.
