Generally, yes.  I’d probably give it a B.  A on offense, C on defense.

BC

may be a bit high wtih the difference between offense/defense greater.

upside are potential difference makers:  Humphreys early, then McKee along with OL.  on defense, Phillips and may be Jones.  Karty is definitely a weapon.

Hopefuuly Karty will eliminate the punts from the opponents 35.

While it may be true the O side is better than the D, in terms of overall numbers and recruiting ratings, the two most slam dunk guys who are gonna play as true Frosh are both on defense, IMO.

Tobin Phillips will play a lot at DT, and Ayden Hector will play a lot at Safety.

a fair amount has been written about USC's weak incoming class, but that point was really driven home when i opened up this morning's L.A. Times sports page.  the main headline is, "Helton's spin move," and the font size is even bigger than that for the article about some occurrence in Washington (can't remember the subject offhand).

SC's incoming class is ranked 78th by 247.......pathetic by even the most generous standard.  and they're more unbalanced than my washing machine when i throw in a king-sized comforter......9 linemen, 1 receiver, and 1 placekicker.

now there could always be a recruit or 2 who is waiting on admissions, but if i were a betting man (which i'm not), i wouldn't bet on it.

Usc football and waiting on admissions in the same post? Classic my friend classic

RE: National Signing Day - Hulk01 - 12-19-2019

The recruiting on the OL and WR encourages me.

I didn't realized how poorly we recruited the OL for the four classes 2014-2017:
We signed only four offensive linemen who were "well-recruited":
Little, Sarell, Yarbrough and Hamilton.
In just these last two classes, we've signed seven:
Hinton, Metcalf, McLaughlin, Rouse, Bragg, Hornibrook, and Miller.

In those four classes, we only landed three well-recruited WRs:
Wedington, St. Brown, and Fehoko;
In our last two, we've landed four:
Wilson, Higgins, Farrel, and Humphreys,
plus we "stole" Fehoko.

Quote:“We had a very good day today that we’re very happy about,” Helton explained, adding a less-than-convincing grin.

A daily reminder that a press conference is not meant to provide useful information.  I am sure USC fans are castigating Helton for not falling on his sword and admitting that major changes need to happen with recruiting.  Maybe they do, but a PC is not where you would expect to see it.

Coaches always say they are happy with their recruiting classes, even if it is obvious that they shouldn't be.

That would be weird if they said, "This year, we got a bunch of shlubs." He's got to work with and motivate those players!

Actually Don James came the closest to it when he first got to Washington back in the 70's.
He said "Our recruiting? Better than I expected; not good enough to win."
