RE: WBB: Off-season thread - BobK - 04-15-2020

It is free agency just no money

No word yet on where Slocum is
Grad transferring. Slocum committted to Washington then the coach left went to Maryland Big 10 Frosh of the year then Oregon State

Lots of news every day. Like Moschkau to Wisconsin

RE: WBB: Off-season thread - BACardinal - 04-15-2020

I believe this is signing week, is it not? Correct me if I'm wrong but I just know all the top men's players announced this week or in the coming days like Ziaire Williams signing with the men's team

RE: WBB: Off-season thread - BobK - 04-15-2020

It is LOI period from today to August

See the cal board 707 ?

Her game reminds me of a "Patriot League-level" Alanna Smith or Kayla Pedersen. It'll be interesting to see how her game translates to the Pac-12 level.

Unless Slocum would choose to return, which seems unlikely at this point, Goodman running the point -- against players like Kiana, McDonald, or Osborne -- could make for a long game for OSU, but their front court should be near the top of the Pac-12.

RE: WBB: Off-season thread - 2006alum - 04-16-2020

Yeah, if Goodman is running their point, expect every defense in the P12 to start running the press. OSU will have great presence inside, but it will need to get it there. Crazy to say this, but a lot will depend on how quickly Goforth can, well, go forth and dominate as a SG, because OSU will need multiple options outside and multiple ball handlers/passers.

Congrats to Lindy for filling her staff of assistant coaches

Looks like a good mix in there -- and well done to pull this off in the middle of a pandemic lockdown. I'll look forward to watching her progress.

She has quite a young team. 6 frosh out of 11. If they are all on scholarship, they have room for 4 frosh for next year. That will make 10 out of 15 underclasswomen.

Slocum to Arkansas. Back with the coach she committed to out of HS when he was the Washington coach

I really don't get this move.  It cannot merely be Slocum chasing after Neighbors.  What was it about being the star for an excellent Pac 12 team that didn't sit well with her?  Did she not get along with Rueck?  I noticed that Rueck was not afraid to sit her for stretches last year--I wonder if she chafed under him in some way.  But enough to uproot her academic career for the second time in 4 years?  Any word from the Oregon State fans on what happened?

RE: WBB: Off-season thread - BobK - 04-18-2020

Oregon state fans believe Slocum didn’t like the more conservative offense. Arkansas runs and guns and shots lots of threes.
The funny thing about Oregon State fans is that they felt she would leave for the draft. She will be a grad student at Arkansas

Slocum committed to Neighbors at Washington then decommitted and went to Maryland then to Oregon state last three years

So three schools in soon 5 years.

Bottom line sometimes winning isn’t everything

Sorry, I got my snark on seeing the word "academic" associated with someone who transferred twice in 4 years.

She's a very good player indeed, and can dominate at this level, but just watching her on the court, her style seems more suited to the pros and certainly not to a tight team offensive structure.

Very good story with Williams at # 10. However the last paragraph is classic.

Thanks for sharing!! That was a very spot-on rundown, and the profile on Williams was terrific and apt. Let's hope she does indeed "lead[] the No. 1 team in the country in scoring and assists."

Now we just need to hope she gets to get back on the hardwood this fall.

Re the last comment, she and everyone else on the team!

Here's a nice story about Karlie and Lou Samuelson. Be sure to click on the video tweet.

RE: WBB: Off-season thread - bl82 - 04-21-2020

Karlie's WNBA 'career' has seen so much incredible bad luck that if this year is lost to COVID-19 she is bound to start wondering why the fates have chosen this particular form of punishment. I don't think I've ever rooted so hard for any Stanford alum to succeed!

RE: WBB: Off-season thread - PVTree - 04-21-2020

Speaking of Karlie, is she a candidate for the coaching vacancy?

RE: WBB: Off-season thread - BobK - 04-22-2020

I for one hope Karlie is
