Lack of urgency defines everything about Stanford Football under David Shaw. Everything.

Gilmore was saying how there was a lack of urgency. Seems that has been a pattern the last few years on two-minute drills.

Sure would be different if Colorado were punting from its 30 with 1:30 left vs midfield with 0:19.

And I bet nobody in the media will question Shaw about this post-game or on Tuesday...gutless wimps

The onside kick was another dumb decision.

Stanford now 1-7 in last 8 games. Next week may be best shot for a win this year.

RE: It’s time for football - Austroturf - 11-14-2020

This is our new reality.  This team is light years away from previous incarnations of the Stanford Cardinal football team.  Three FGs in the first half.  Just turn one of those into a TD, and we have a shot.  It would be handy to blame the virus and the false protocols of last week that robbed Mills and Wedington of some badly-needed game-time reps.  But even when the offense started clicking in the late stages, time was wasted, and there was no sense of urgency.  It's almost as if Shaw and his staff consider this entire season exhibition football.  Maybe it is, but it certainly is frustrating to watch.

RE: It’s time for football - Durty Nelly - 11-14-2020

Mills could not practice all week.   The screwed up covid test has impacted both games. The rust certainly showed.  Predict a better offensive performance next week (weather permitting).

Showed a bit of character coming back in the 4th quarter.

RE: It’s time for football - chrisk - 11-14-2020

Shaw said the obvious: Mills was rusty. Also was critical of line play that allowed Noyer too much time.

Stanford is the first team in PAC-12 to go 0-2.

RE: It’s time for football - OutsiderFan - 11-14-2020

IF second half Mills would have been playing against Oregon and Colorado for a full game, you could make an argument Stanford could be 2-0.

BUT, there is far, far, far too much terrible execution, questionable strategy, game mismanagement, and lack of urgency across 8 quarters of football for me to really buy into this being a legit position to take,

Not even a pyrrhic victory. I was less frustrated last week because I'm not sure that even with Mills & Weddington we could have won. This week I'm more frustrated because coaching was the difference - AGAIN.

If the weather's nice next Saturday I'll be on the golf course. It'll be the first time in years that I will voluntarily skip watching a Stanford game that I could see. Even if it's free, it's no longer worth my time.

Stanford football 2020 = Stanford MBB circa 2013

Mills does not play on defense. I see no reason for optimism if Stanford cannot stop an opponent.

Does this mark the moment when Cardboard stops making endless excuses for Shaw?

And six consecutive losses for the first time since IdiotFace was the head coach. Yeah, that's how bad it is

I hope so.

Nice to see #80 catch his first td as 5th yr Sr, he was in the transfer portal and came back after #84 went to the nfl, and #88 2pt catch .

#88 should have been moved to DL years ago.  Just one fan's opinion (a fan who admired the way #88's old man played).

The defense needs all the help it can get. 2 games, 0 sacks.
