Gonna give Anderson some credit. After that awful first series he's dialed up the aggressiveness and called a good number of blitzes and it's working

Agreed

Pretty bad series from Barret Miller. Whiffed on the screen, then gets bull rushed.

RE: Big Game 2020 - PVTree - 11-27-2020

What a bad angle the defender took. Let him get yards and go out of bounds.

This may be the worst tackling team I’ve seen

Agreed
After the first series the D has been more aggressive in their play and play calling. I like it when we are attacking.

And now blocking the FG kick! Yes!

Lex, you weren’t around in 1960.

Incredible number of whiffs today. At least four, I think. . . .

The team that does a better job of forgetting the first half is going to win this

RE: Big Game 2020 - OutsiderFan - 11-27-2020

David Shaw is the worst game manager I've ever seen. You don't use all your timeouts with 2:57 left in a half.  You don't do it in the NFL, and you certainly don't do it in college football, where the clock stops with a first down.

He should have kept one time out and let the clock go down to 2:20 or whatever.  Doing what he did, he gave Cal the ability to have another :50 seconds, and look how far they went with no timeouts.

Lucky to get the blocked FG, but it never should have been an option.  Again, atrocious clock management.

As for Mills, is he even coached? Or is it that he's coached poorly? Who the hell teaches the QB to play like he is playing? All his throws are from the same launch point, which makes him easy to rush.

Stanford has lost 10 games in a row in which it has been tied or behind at halftime. Sure would be nice to break that streak.

BTW, Before that game I told a friend of mine that both teams were so bad that the game would end in a tie with a field goal getting blocked,  the other team picking it up and running for a touchdown but getting called for a penalty on the run back so it finishes as a tie. I was pretty darn close

14 rushing yards.

RE: Big Game 2020 - Hurlburt88 - 11-27-2020

Does MIlls ever throw the ball away versus take the sack?   He also seems to lack touch on the quick passes to the wideouts.   nice touch on that TD though!

And Mills has been sacked at least three times, right?

We've become brutally intellectual.

Well, Mills hasn't turned into the superstar we thought we had when he came out of high school.
Whether it's the coaching or his injury problems or whatever, it certainly is disappointing.

RE: Big Game 2020 - Hurlburt88 - 11-27-2020

Next year . . . and I am serious

That said, I still want 2 new coordinators and head of strength and conditioning

RE: Big Game 2020 - PVTree - 11-27-2020

Run, run, incomplete, punt.

I wonder how many of these we'll have in the second half

RE: Big Game 2020 - Phogge - 11-27-2020

Absolutely no imagination in the run game. Give it to your little HB and run him into six Bears. Nothing wide, nothing different.

Both teams suck.

You wouldn't get much better production if Shaw had Notre Dame's offensive personnel. The offensive design is just not up to par for modern football, and the execution is really lacking.

Speaking of Notre Dame.  I have started watching their game against UNC.  Soooooo much more entertaining.
