5) Kiana is in a slump. 1/12 today. It is almost as if she shoots best when there is a sense of urgency and everything depends upon her. Now that she is surrounded with so much talent, her shots are not going in.
6) Brink got better the longer she was in the game, but 3/10 with 2 fouls and a turnover in 10 minutes leaves room for improvement. She will, I have no doubt (improve.)
7) I continue to like Prechtel. At this point, in a tight game I want her in the game rather than Brink. She is strong, does not get flustered, and is reliable when she has open looks. They both can sink the three, which is an amazing luxury, giving them a dimension that Belibi lacks.
8) We crushed Washington chiefly with our rebounding. 25 O-boards. My goodness.
81alum, are you not doing your usual beginning of thread, game/quarter analysis/recap you do after the game? Always looked forward to reading them after the game.
I decided that this year I would just integrate my remarks into the thread. I'm still "professoring" and finding it hard to combat perpetual burnout during this COVID era. I'm going to partially retire after this year and I might well return to do those writes-ups that took an hour or so to prepare when I have more time. For now, I am just grateful to be able to watch a few games and share a few thoughts.
I also found I had the most insight to share with you after games I had attended live, both because I would see things that I did not see on TV, but also because of the wonderful chats that Bob and MT and Chimera and Jake and I and others would have at halftime, not to mention the insight from the chalk talks. Without all those extras to share with those of you who can't attend the games, I'm just another fan :)
