UCLA and Oregon comfortably coasted to victory, but did not look particularly good.  South Dakota and Wyoming were plucky but overmatched physically.

I'd like Oregon to take out Georgia for us.  Heck, i'd like them to take out Louisville too and meet us in the elite eight.

Is the Oregon PG back or still out?

Still out. I was surprised they did as well as they did without her.

I only watched the first half of the Oregon game, but I thought they looked good.

Oregon State takes on South Carolina at 4 right before our game at 6 tonight.

This will tell us whether the Pac-12 is indeed a step ahead of everybody else. Go Beavers.

Meanwhile Caitlin Clark and Iowa pummeling Kentucky in UCONN's region, 77-54 with 6:17 to go. Assuming UCONN takes care of Syracuse today, can't wait to see the UCONN-Iowa matchup this weekend.

I see a big win for Iowa over UConn

UCONN SUCKS!

Michigan up 40-23 on Tennessee at 6:20 mark in 3rd quarter.

Michigan up 50-35 end of 3.

Michigan up 59-46 with two minutes left.

Michigan wins 70-55.

Michigan scares me.

We have played against Kim Barnes Arico in the NCAAs before.  I remember playing one of her St. John's team at Maples, and I think we also played against one of her Michigan teams.  She is a good coach.

The other issue is that the SEC may just be overrated this year.  So few inter conference games to know for sure.  Let's hope Georgia, South Carolina, and A&M are just as overrated as Tennessee.

Considering that we beat ORST by more than 30, if they just play South Carolina close it looks pretty good for us.  Right now it's a low scoring close game.

With a minute to go in first half, OS has scored 18 points; unfortunately, SC has 30. Taylor JOnes is so important to them and she picked up two fouls about 4 min into the game and had to sit.

RE: WBB: NCAA TOURNEY (OTHER TEAMS) - 81alum - 03-23-2021

Oregon State and South Carolina are battling in a defensive slugfest in which Oregon State can't hit their treys.  If OSU can start hitting their open treys, they could easily be way ahead.  Tayor Jones though got two early 1st quarter fouls and is sitting most of the first half.   Then, late in the second quarter, OSU  started turning the ball over and giving South Carolina layups and SC went on a 14-2 run and the half ended SC 30 OSU 18.

The refs were letting a lot go, and this really discombobulated OSU.

It is all about the SC defense.  Their offense looks average.

Taylor Jones picks up a quick 3rd foul in the 3rd quarter, turns the ball over, and South Carolina is coming alive.  This is sad, I was hoping OSU could knock them off but they are beating themselves with 1/10 three point shots and oodles of turnovers.

Meanwhile, Carrington is have a great game for Baylor, leading them with 15 points.

RE: WBB: NCAA TOURNEY (OTHER TEAMS) - M T - 03-23-2021

In the Va Tech vs Baylor game, about 4:30 3Q, there was an elbow to the face as a player spun the ball over the head of the other player.  Unlike the call against Brink, this was called an ordinary foul.

RE: WBB: NCAA TOURNEY (OTHER TEAMS) - PVTree - 03-23-2021

Boston seems not to be in great shape. If we get to face them, Tara should have her run up and down to tire her out.

RE: WBB: NCAA TOURNEY (OTHER TEAMS) - 81alum - 03-23-2021

South Carolina's defense was dominant.  Held Oregon State to 29% shooting and only 3/19 from three point range.  Quick little guards that get to the perimeter to defend it well, and of course great post play.  Looking a lot like it may come down to them vs. Maryland as the seeding predicted, unless UCLA can break through.

Baylor outscored their opponent in the paint 44-2.

Yeah Kitley is a finesse player.  She's not physical enough to bang around for points and rebounds against a physical team.
