Game going pretty much as expected.

Surprised that most of their yardage has come through passing.

Also with McKee in there I thought we would be able to throw the ball a little bit against them.

I’m thankful for the little things.  McGill jumping the route, the bootleg to Yarusek, and Jones punching it in for a TD!

And on the ensuing drive, Notre Dame cuts through us like a hot knife through butter.

Yeah, we've already got more points than some were expecting us to.

Oops, didn't take them long to answer.

We end up again with the worst Defense in Pac-12, same as in 2019.
Why does Lance Anderson still have a job?
What does it take?
How about the DefCo for OKState -- He only makes $800K a year.  Just one example.
Coaches need to "execute" also !
ORST fired their DefCo mid season.  Zup?

It’s also targeting if you hit a defenseless player in the head or neck, regardless of whether you hit him with your head or not

Thanks. Seen that type of play a hundred times, and this was probably the first time I've seen targeting called. Don't think I'd call it cheap, though.

RE: Domer game thread - BostonCard - 11-27-2021

The key was that Higgins had his knee down, so he was considered “defenseless”.  The same play, while Higgins was not down, would have been legal, because it wasn’t with the crown of the helmet, and the defender didn’t launch.  But once the offensive player is considered “defenseless”, all you need for targeting is “forceful contact to the head or neck area”.

The game is right on track with my expectations, sadly.
That is why I opted to not take the 400 mile journey to the stadium this weekend.

Oklahoma could beat Oklahoma State.   And should that happen, Notre Dame has a very good shot at the CFP.

I do think Kelly should pull some of his best defenders soon.   I wouldn't be particularly worried about injuries, but those blowout targeting calls that seem rather common could leave key players out of the first half of a CFP semifinal.

I thought he would get a bit more conservative with the ND offense at this point, but I didn't really appreciate how vulnerable Alabama and the Big12 would be by halftime of the Stanford/ND game.

Hmmm.  Beetface is starting to turtle.

RE: Domer game thread - BostonCard - 11-27-2021

Nice sack by Armitage.  Hopefully the first of many in his career.

But then three and out from us.  Notre Dame is blitzing virtually every passing down, because they know we can’t make them pay.

RE: Domer game thread - Phogge - 11-27-2021

Would love to see Harballs vs Kelly.

Sorry, Notre Dame has regained the Tight End U title.

Hope Wade Perry doesn’t come back.

Down 31-7 why punt?

RE: Domer game thread - BostonCard - 11-27-2021

Notre Dame with a delay of game.  (Ok, intentional, as they were trying to draw us offsides, which, thankfully we didn’t do).

I think Harbaugh and Michigan would beat Notre Dame handily.

There's that neat wr screen again that never materializes.

RE: Domer game thread - Phogge - 11-27-2021

New poll. What unit is crappier?

Stanford offense
Stanford defense

Been away from this nail baiter, sorry for the late reply, but he's knee was down for a spilt second, at least it appeared that way. No matter, just trying to make heads or tails of an ambiguous rule. . ..

Honestly, not thinking ND is a top 4 team.  Just sayn'.

Nice hustle by Rouse to get that fumble.
The rest of the OL doing the matador thing.
