I count 23 with Edwards coming in although Ramsey is iffy

Agree, and too bad. I thought after five years he would want to move on with his life. But, if he hopes to continue to show talent to NFL, he probably has to enroll in a grad program. Many times he was the best Stan front seven player on the field.

I don't think he's NFL bound. Maybe a UDFA. He's been the same solid, not great player for years now. Likely going back home to Utah/BYU, and a free Masters while actually living with his wife seems like a good option.

The fact that he was frequently the best front seven player on the field is just as large of an indictment on our front seven as it is a compliment to him.

Yes, I bet Reid is aiming at one of the Utah schools (the Utes or the Cougars) for one last chance to prove himself to the NFL.

In terms of players in the portal, the worst I have seen is Indiana, with 18 team members looking to transfer.  The Hoosiers appear to be in meltdown mode.

A question once again: which Stanford players are likely to enter the draft and actually get drafted?  Booker, Kelly?

Which players are we GAINING via the portal?
-- those who see openings and opportunities for more playing time?

History says: not many, if any.  The best transfer ever was Brennan Scarlett from Cal, but that was pre-portal.

My mistake.  23 is correct.  So probably 3 spots for Michael Wilson, Brycen Tremayne, Ricky Miezan, Jacob Magnum-Farrar, and Kendall Williamson.

I was mostly just checking to see whether Samuel was hinting that Stanford would have some underclass attrition (not including KBK or McKee).  Sounds like that's probably not the case, so AFAIK, it's still 2 of those 5 guys not returning, which is unfortunate because I think all of them would contribute next year in a significant way.  I'm not saying they are all-conference or anything, but I do think they all would upgrade the roster.

Has Ramsey been admitted?

Yes.

RE: Football Senior Decisions - Papa John - 12-06-2021

It would be bad, of course, to lose Kamari Ramsey, but double-bad to lose him to UCLA.

almost every year there is some unexpected attrition from things like medical retirements so it would not be all that unusual to see 1-2 more spots open up.

It’s ok, it’s not like we need quality safeties /sarcasm/.

I suppose the good news about moving to a 4-3 is that we need half as many middle linebackers.

I’d rather have to make tough choices about returning seniors than Have to offer scholarships to walk-ones just because we didn’t fill our allotment.

Brycen Tremayne's twitter profile says he's class of '22.  Not sure whether that means anything.
Also, here's another departure:

I thought I read a quote from Brycen after the injury where he said he planned on a speedy recovery and a return next year. Hopefully he is progressing well.
