Really, really need E.J. Smith (and Jones, of course) to stay healthy if Peat leaves.

Hoping against hope that he decides to stick around. It did kind of feel like Peat got to be a starter for a few games, but slipped on the depth chart towards the end of the season.

Where was he likely to be on 2022 depth chart?

I think he would have been either the starter or backup to Austin Jones, though Smith and Filkins would have gotten carries regardless.

given he didn't get many snaps in the last few games really doubt Peat would be top 2 or 3

RE: 2022 Stanford Football Personnel - Phogge - 01-11-2022

Probably no chance but that big back Brown from Cal who was hard to bring down is in the portal. Been awhile since they have had a bruiser and it wasn't Cameron Scarlett.

The Cal running back in question is Christopher Brooks (235lbs) who has transferred to BYU, he will team up with Hemiuli (270lbs), you will get to see them together this year in action at Stanford when BYU plays the last regular game of season against the Card.  I wonder who will run for more yards this coming season against the Card, The Pope or Brigham Young?

Will you settle for EJ staying healthy?

Added Collin Wright. So happy we got three solid safeties in this class.

Also, I have been adding in my notes (the post just under the chart) where our transfers are headed. Just noticed that Ryan Johnson has committed to Northwestern. Gabe Reid, Andres Fox, Thunder Keck, Justus Woods, Loa Kaufusi, and Trey LaBounty still free agents.

Keck removed himself from the portal. Whether he's retiring from football altogether is TBD.

Is it safe to assume that the only 5th/6th year players returning are the ones listed on your chart at the top of this thread (and maybe even 1-2 of those won't get offered to return)?  Seeing that Reid remains uncommitted makes me think it would be nice to have him reconsider his decision to transfer.  Fisk and DWP also would figure to contribute and maybe Williams too.  But of course there has to be room at the inn and they have to want to come back.  Not sure where Shaw would find space, but maybe there will be a medical retirement or two.

Not sure on roster management. Clearly there is still a little flux right now.

- Fisk has not officially announced anything but I'm not counting on a 6th year return.
- Also not counting on Reid returning, though obviously it would benefit us mightily as all of a sudden the position looks young (though promising from a recruiting talent standpoint). My guess is Utah.
- DWP declared for the NFL draft already.
- Given the addition of Fields and more depth at S (FINALLY), having Williams return on scholarship would make little sense.
- As noted above, not sure whether Keck is remaining on the team/on scholarship given his self-removal from the portal.
- Not holding my breath on this anymore, but Josh Pakola's enigmatic return is still possible.

RE: 2022 Stanford Football Personnel - Langdude - 02-02-2022

It is indeed possible that any of the uncommitted players that entered the portal could reconsider and return (I believe that happened last year). It is also possible that those who hinted that they were done (like Fisk) could reconsider and return. The chart just reflects what seems to be the consensus regarding players at this point. Would love to have Pakola back, but even as it stands, we need two scholly players to retire. If no one does, then the coaching staff will have to decide which 5th year player to not invite back (my guess: two out of Symonds, Bonner, and Williamson).

Shaw's signing day presser mentioned Williamson, so it appears he's back.

RE: 2022 Stanford Football Personnel - Phogge - 02-02-2022

DWP declares? Unbelievable.

RE: 2022 Stanford Football Personnel - BostonCard - 02-02-2022

If you have a twitter, you too can declare for the NFL draft (or MLB).

I’ll always regret not signing after soph year. Where can I find this Twitter thing?

Do you all know when the team will publish the Spring roster?  In light of the tight control of information, I think that may be the time when we learn about some or all of the remaining decisions.

Looks like Josh Pakola has again entered the portal. Apparently not able to be on the team in 2022.
