A dying quail ... 8-1, good guys. The black helmets are working.

RE: Stanford Baseball - TonyLima - 02-20-2022

Gonna have to move that Montgomery kid up in the order. 11-1.

Quite the debut. 2 HR and 6 RBI.

Bruno! Three batters, three strikeouts. And the hitting showed up today. Big time.

We don’t talk about Bruno.

I thought the Encanto reference would elicit a collective groan, so I am glad you liked it.

The three Gabes:

Dell.. One of Steve Allen's crazy guys and an original Bowery Boy.
Kaplan... actor, poker player
Paul... Yankee GM

Two football Gabes: Gabe Marks (Pac-12 all-time receptions leader), Gabe Rivera (Señor Sack, drafted by the Steelers instead of Dan Marino, paralyzed in an auto accident during his rookie season).

RE: Stanford Baseball - BobK - 02-22-2022

I was just setting you up see how long before someone thinks of Gabe Kapler

Interesting to see Mark Marquess in the Santa Clara dugout.

RE: Stanford Baseball - JJJ - 02-22-2022

Can anyone shed any light on the post-double celebration like Graham here from Sunday  (and Jones just now for the 3-0 lead?)

I’m sure it feels a little weird for him too.

Here’s Jones today. Montgomery did a cutesy leg kick after his double too.

Many teams have routines after doubles. Stanford has for 5 or so years now.

Yes, but I’m wondering about the meaning of this year’s. I know the genesis of the pirate’s hook, for instance from back when Jack Klein used to respond to roll call with an “aargh!”

Did they report the coach they had to leg go due to using some bad language????

Sounds about right.  SCU had gone 1-2 against USC at USC, so SCU's four total baserunners (three singles and a walk) against Stanford sounds about right. SCU's #3 hitter had three strikeouts and a walk.  My mental over/under for SCU wins this season is 16.
