Shaw is a bit of an enigma to me.
Regardless of what Harbaugh left him, I don't think he could have accomplished what he did in 2011-2015 without being an excellent coach.
Then again, would an excellent coach have let the program slide from where it was in 2015 to where it is now?
Tough to figure.

Not on Twitter but after reading the Muth tweet and where it led I’m overjoyed that I’m not on Twitter.
For the record and for those newbies Muth worked hard and was an All PAC left tackle as a senior.

Maybe ask yourself which is more likely:
That a mediocre coach won big in 2011-2015 with the roster talent at Stanford; or
That an excellent coach let a Winning Big Program sink to all-time low depths?
It's obvious where I stand - but even I recognize that the truth, as is often the case, lies not on either extreme.

I don't think either is likely at all.
I don't think a mediocre coach takes a Stanford team to four NY6 Bowls in five years, especially given how often Stanford had made an NY6 bowl prior to then.
That's why I say it's tough to figure.

"Tough to figure" is a thunderous understatement. In Shaw's case, it is closer to "self-immolating". It would be hard today to find a big-time HC so blindered, so unable or unwilling to see what is so apparent, so refusing or failing to see beyond his obsessively narrow viewpoint, so hidebound that he cannot adapt to changing circumstances. "Stubborn" doesn't begin to describe it. Whatever it is, it's NOT consistent with great coaching -- something Shaw has not shown for multiple years, and counting.

39-53? Missed the game. How'd we do in the second half?

Thought that was the halftime score. . . .12 points in the first half?!? Who coached the offense? Tavita?

Cmon man, you know Tavita doesn't actually do anything!

OK, fine, since we're piling on, I noticed that Cal's football team scored more (41) than Stanford's basketball team (39). Although in all fairness the football team had 20 more minutes.
