Looking at the incoming freshman class I'm getting pumped up about the fall season. On paper Stanford has more talent than any college team in the country.
I don't know why Greene de-committed from Princeton. It worked out well for Stanford. She might not even be asking for an athletic scholarship because she wouldn't have gotten one at Princeton.

Ipar Kurt (2023, OH, Istanbul, Turkey): Kurt is on Turkey's senior B team. I read an article she may get a chance to play at VNL currently going on in Italy. I noticed she is following all five of Stanford's incoming freshmen on Instagram. She must have some interest in Stanford although I haven't heard anything of substance. She would likely be one of Hambly's biggest recruits ever (Logan Tom big) if she made it to the Farm. BobK have you heard anything?

I should have been more clear about Logan Tom. I meant that more as a symbolic reference than a literal reference. From what I've read and seen in videos of Kurt's passing and hitting, she should be one of Hambly's strongest recruits; possibly the best. IMO he is doing an excellent job in recruiting.

Penn State announced today it will allow "capacity crowds" for all fall sports including volleyball. I haven't heard anything yet about Stanford. I'm definitely making plans to attend some PAC-12 matches.

Stanford Athletics is pleased to announce a new assistant coach endowment for the women's volleyball program - the 'Kimberly and Beverly Oden Assistant Volleyball Coach'.
The endowment has been created by a gift from Angela, '93, and David Filo, MA '90.
Maybe this endowment was being considered for a long time or maybe the Filos wanted to make sure no one got the idea of cutting WVB to help the athletic budget sometime in the future.
FWIW, Elaina, the best of the three Oden sisters, played for John Dunning at University of the Pacific winning two national championships.

I don't know the connection with WVB but I'm glad it exists. David Filo is co-founder of Yahoo and a multi-billionaire. His wife was on the Stanford Board of Trustees. She still might be a member. Good to have these two supporting a sports program.
In other news, I'm sure you saw Kerri came up short of qualifying for the Olympics.

This non-conference schedule is insanely tough
Kentucky, Nebraska, Minnesota, and Penn State. All four of those teams will be top 10 at the start of the season. After the first few weeks they may be top 5 along with Texas.
One thing about Stanford WVB, if a team is asked to schedule them, the team will jump at the opportunity.
So Stanford plays the defending national champion on Sunday September 19 and undergraduate students start classes Monday September 20. That will be a lot on the players' minds.
