Yes, but this was still against ND trying to cover the spread. So definitely a tougher opponent than EB had faced in his garbage time reps, I believe. And again, why haven't all the QBs been given end-of-game snaps to prove themselves?
Maybe Mirer graduates...but maybe he stays. A new era under Pritchard might need a steady, competitive, veteran presence. Whatever happens, Mirer gave us a moment of joy last night that was pretty special.

while what he did last night was commendable and his presence would help, i hope for the program’s sake, the “answer” isnt mirer. The spread did not matter to ND - otherwise their first teamers and starting QB would have still been in. Cant believe players and coaches would even care about what the betting line is for obvious reasons

He led one of the best, if not the best, series I saw of our QB’s this season. His Qb rating per espn was 99.7, probably far higher than any other of our QB’s this season. If he were willing to return next season to compete & play in our QB room then I’d think very welcome. The QB solution is not ever one guy, it needs be a room, a team, cause often one guy doesn’t survive a whole season uninjured.

Just rewatched Charlie's sequence. No, he won't remind anyone of Andrew Luck. And yet...he had a terrific, courageous run. He throws a much tighter spiral than any other Stanford QB I've seen this season. And his timing on the touchdown was exquisite.

It was a very nice moment for Mirer. But let’s not get carried away. It came at garbage time of a blowout. Reich and AL know a bit about QB play. There is a reason he played behind Gulbranson and Brown.

1. They lost to Miami.
2. Teams that didn't play in conference championships were penalized.
3. Lack of marquee wins. The only currently-ranked team ND beat was #16 USC. Pitt was #22 when UND beat them.
Still, Notre Dame only lost to #12 Miami and #7 Texas A&M. If Boise State wins, the ND and Miami rankings could flip. Conversely, if BYU beats Texas Tech in the Big 12 title game, they could leapfrog Notre Dame.
