Basically a game between SC and Stanford on a neutral field would result in Stanford being favored by about 4 points, after discounting for the hordes of Trojan fans who bet on their team no matter what.

EDIT: Using Sagarin, you'd get Stanford being favored by about 7.

I would just echo our colleague above that asked why, in our close-as-hell loss to a team that was favored, we dropped 3 slots, while LSU, clobbered by alabama, only went to 2.

BUT, I'm sure there are perfectly solid answers to that...

the real answer is for me to have new years resolutions of:

* Don't pay attention to endless hype generated by media sites that are chasing website clicks

* Do NOT venture into comment threads below sports articles, for the love of god

* Do what the coach says and don't think about polling (except for the day before bowl selection) and just think about what can be controlled by the team

* Do not care about cardboard's up-and-down respect rankings  :)

* Love gritty, hard-fought, classy football

* Buy gigantic Stepfan Taylor poster and small altar

* Beät Cäl

Poor GoodGrief gets no rest...after coming back from his honeymoon, he needs to spend a few weeks touring the US and punching errant Voldemort voters.
