Re: Class of 2016 -
TrumpCard - 02-04-2015
Quoting Hulk's comments on the 2016 needs from another thread:
Needs in the next class:
Three DLs, one a nose tackle. This is obvious.
Tight end. With only Schultz in 2014 and no tight ends in this class, we need to prepare for the day when Hooper, Cotton and Taboada disappear from this rostersimultaneously. Try for two,
QB. Chryst in 2014 abnd no one in the 2015 class. Cannot risk a two-year gap here.
A power back. Cameron Scarlett and his brother have injury histories, and Scarlett is the only power back on next years roster. If only for short yardage, we need this guy.
A true cover corner. Buncom and Meeks dont have elite speed and Terrence Alexander burned his redshirt this year. We need another Alexander.
Some elite OLs. Always a need, and Murphy, Shuler, Caspers, Davidson, and Garnett arent around much longer.

Looks like the staff needs to do better at explaining what the name of the school is when they offer. :-\

My recruiting list has been updated with the first group of 2016 offerees, plus a few more to look out for. I've also moved the members of the Class of 2015 to my Stanford Sports list, which I have not made public.
If you're interested in subscribing to the list, here's the URL:

Some other offers:
Garrett Rand, a highly-ranked Arizona DT. I believe he referred to Stanford as his top choice this summer?
Matt Farniok, OT from South Dakota
Dylan Crawford, WR from California. Costello's teammate.
Re: Class of 2016 -
TrumpCard - 02-05-2015
Not surprisingly, Stanford is going hard after DTs in the 2016 class, with reported offers to Gary, Brown, Williams, Rand, and Peek. Tagaloa may be a possibility too.Â

We seem to have made a good impression on Williams:

And it looks like we're doing well for Rand:

Offers are really too thick and fast to keep track of.

Counted 13ish on Drukarev's twitter feed. Would try to list them, but the kid's show is ending so I am going to have to read Geronimo Stilton instead.

247 Sports says we are in the top three for Williams.

A few more offers:

https://twitter.com/TomVH/status/563728253266194432
Nice list, Durty, but a few previous offers that you missed:
Robert Washington (RB)
Devin Duvernay (WR)
Brandon Burton (WR)
Isaac Nauta (TE)
McTelvin Agim (DE/OLB?)
Nygel Edmonds (CB)
Brandon Jones (S)
Deontay Anderson (S)
Isaac Nauta -

He's given a verbal to Florida State. Our track record of luring Florida State recruits away isn't real great, which I suspect most people feel in one case is just as well.

It seems like we are putting all our eggs in one basket (at least as of now) with Costello, at a position that we definitely need someone for in 2016.
Could it be possible we have a silent commitment from him?

He certainly looks like a Stanford kid. See the story in the link.

Article about Oregon's offer to Schaffer back in January where he mentions basically a Stanford offer would be a particularly big deal for him. I would guess we've got a very good shot with him (especially since he was teammates with Annan).
edit:Â Should probably share the link...

What makes you say that? There are indications Stanford has shown interest in Messiah deWeaver as well.

I said it because given a list of nearly 50 people we have offered for the 2016 class, he is the only QB. I'm sure there are other people that Shaw is at least considering, because even if he did have a silent commitment from Costello, there is always the possibility of a change of heart.
Re: Class of 2016 -
TrumpCard - 02-07-2015
Let's assume Costello is the first choice and is interested but not ready to commit. Further assume Shaw offered deWeaver today and deWeaver accepted on the spot. Would that be an unacceptable result? Would it hurt the chances of landing Costello? If so, then it is the right decision to offer only Costello even if he's not a silent verbal.
Re: Class of 2016 -
StannyBoy - 02-07-2015
Shaw only offers one QB at a time. And Harbaugh basically pulled deWeaver's offer so even if we don't land Costello I highly doubt he's next in line. Also, deWeaver started at Trotwood for the past 3 years and now transfers to some crappy public school for his senior year. Sure seems like he got kicked out. Pass.
