Re: Game Thread: Stanford vs. Southern California - TrumpCard - 09-06-2014

To be ahead at the half after all that sloppiness is a testament to how physically this team is playing.

Re: Game Thread: Stanford vs. Southern California - washingtonismoney - 09-06-2014

Yards per play:

Stanford: 5.89
SC: 3.44

(not counting kneeldowns).

Pretty incredible difference. We're outplaying them when we're not busying ourselves taking target practice on our feet.

Re: Game Thread: Stanford vs. Southern California - washingtonismoney - 09-06-2014

Also, switching to no-huddle has been a really good adjustment by the coaches -- offense has looked very good over the past couple of drives, aside from our latest reenactment of Redzone Follies

This is exactly how I feel.

Yep, I agree. The good news is as sloppy as we played in the first half we still have the lead.

U$C's first drive in the second half will be key, I think, to how the rest of the game is going to go.

Re: Game Thread: Stanford vs. Southern California - martyup - 09-06-2014

If we can keep playing the way we have but without the penalties and mistakes, we'll make this a blowout.

Re: Game Thread: Stanford vs. Southern California - martyup - 09-06-2014

Still looking for a kick return for TD and a pick 6.

Re: Game Thread: Stanford vs. Southern California - JeffInCorvallis - 09-06-2014

There is no blowout, but if we cut down the number of mental mistakes we'll be OK.  If we continue it's anyone's game.

Re: Game Thread: Stanford vs. Southern California - Bruce Wang - 09-06-2014

I think Hogan is making adjustments that the O-line isn't ready for yet.  They aren't on the same page.  Hence all the miscues.  Towards the end of the season when everybody is in sync this offense will be a sight to behold.  Let's win this one first.

LSJUMB Halftime show on recycling.  Last segment on recycling old songs, "like playing the same two songs over and over again."

Sousaphones all have bell covers saying "Censored" and "Redacted" so it's a safe bet the original script was more biting.

Almost a pick 6. Still a proper start to the half by the D and punt return team.

Hoping you are right... Having now seen SCs first drive ... Like it

Our red zone offense really leaves something to be desired. Vanilla runs and jump balls. And missed FGs apparently.

Re: Game Thread: Stanford vs. Southern California - estephan500 - 09-06-2014

The strange cautious run play on third down. That is the Shaw I remember.

And what is up with that, Jordan?

Re: Game Thread: Stanford vs. Southern California - TrumpCard - 09-06-2014

Why not throw on third down and long?  We know Williamson has trouble from sharp angles.

Fiesta Bowl Jordan :(

Re: Game Thread: Stanford vs. Southern California - JohnR34231 - 09-06-2014

Looks like we are determined to make this a tough game. Too bad.

U$c inexperience on OL showing

Re: Game Thread: Stanford vs. Southern California - washingtonismoney - 09-06-2014

Would like to incorporate a Hogan designed run in the red zone.
