Texas State fought like ravening lions.  They were more than deserving and there are quite a few regionals around the country that they would have advanced out of.

Got to get ready to do it all over again next weekend -- can't take UConn lightly.

I completely agreee. They can beat any team. They have great pitching and hitting

Coming into this weekend, RPI for Texas State was 26. UConn was 43.

Great game ... The drama of the last inning alone was an advertisement for College Baseball.

Not to turn the page too quickly but I'd love to hear someone's opinion UConn.  (Other than we owe them for that WBB defeat.)

Texas St should have been hosting and belongs in a super regional. They just ran out of gas, we finished on fumes. 

Unreal. The Esquer interview on the fourth was prophetic: “We just need to keep it close and hope that we can steal it from them in the end”

Oh man. I was hoping and expecting a rally, a fight but a back to back HR to start the bottom of the 9th is simply incredible. Eddie park going 4/4 tonight and Crampton’s ability to bunt successfully was major. Haskin delivering during his biggest at bat so far is just awesome.

This team is fun to watch - lots of grit, fight and pure brotherhood.

Casual fan here. I’m ashamed to say that I bailed on watching ESPN after the top of the ninth. Baseball is a funny game. I think sometimes you can get a read on whether a pitcher is going to keep throwing well or poorly, but it really only takes one swing/pitcher’s mistake for things to change all at once.

Since y'all shut down the other thread and have talked plenty about Stanford's win...

The Top 5 seeds all advance to the Super regionals. Of the Top 8 seeds, only #6 Miami and #7 Oklahoma State went down. Probably doesn't bode well for the Pac-12 that Oregon State (#3) and Stanford (#2) barely escaped. 

And of the 16 Regional Hosts, only 5 didn't advance to Super Regional:

#6 Miami
#7 Oklahoma State
#13 Florida
#15 Maryland
#16 Georgia Southern

Notre Dame at #1 Tennessee
UConn at #2 Stanford
Auburn at #3 Oregon State
Oklahoma at #4 Virginia Tech
#12 Louisville at #5 Texas A&M
Ole Miss at #11 Southern Miss

Stanford has the easiest opponent in the Super Regionals. UConn seems to be on par with UCSB, and Texas St. is better. Pretty much no excuse not to be playing in Omaha.

I thought about doing the same but then reminded myself of Big Game '90. This wasn't quite on that level of insanity (not sure anything in sports is) but it was awesome to watch! On to the Supers!

Montgomery is good for at least one inning, then he starts to have control issues. If he can stay within himself and not try and throw the ball through the catcher, he will be an asset out of the pen for the next 2 years.

Texas State's pitcher Levi Wells will forever remember and hate Stanford.  Last season he played for Texas Tech, which Stanford knocked out in the Super Regional.  Last night he gave up the winning run on Haskins' walk-off hit.

I happen to be in a PhD program at the school headed to Stanford for the super regionals so it is a bittersweet situation for me. My Stanford loyalty (and therefore disdain for UConn women's basketball) makes it easy to pick a side when those two matchup in women's hoops. Baseball is a bit of a different story. I've embraced UConn's baseball program and become a fan. Coach Jim Penders might be the most underrated baseball coach in the country. He's built a baseball power in the northeast, a very challenging place to find or sustain success.

Anyways, I've watched or followed just about every game Stanford and UConn have played this year. UConn is a pesky bunch with a great Friday night starter (likely day two draft pick) and plentiful options in the bullpen. The lineup is balanced much like Stanford's. Lots of guys with 10ish homer runs and a back half of the lineup that can spark big innings (shout out Bowser, Troy and Park) Since March of 2021 they have only lost one series (yes, the big east stinks at baseball, but still impressive consistency). I will stop in later to give a more detailed analysis of what lies ahead for Stanford in the supers.
