Did Francis really have 12 kills? I seem to remember 12 blocks. Her post-match interview is delightful.  Highly recommended.

Also, NC had a positive percentage in the third set.  The -0.91 is for the match.  Agree with Palo Alto about Rubin.

Related: just for kicks went looking for tix to Saturday's match (Louisville).  No tickets link even shown for that match on gostanford.  What I expected.  Announcers commented on the great crowd at NC (many empty seats).  Wait until they see Maples.

I missed the match, but the box score (link) says you are correct, 12 blocks, 7 kills.  Rubin had a double-double with 13 kills and 12 digs.  After a great match against Duke, Kurt struggled.  And yes, UNC’s hitting percentage was negative for the match, which is crazy.  Sixteen blocks is a season high.

Update Sunday evening. Of course, Bob is correct. There are several pretty bad reserved seats available. Plenty of general admission. 

But now I have another question. IIRC each game in the online schedule used to have a tickets link. Has my memory failed me? I can see good logistical, security, and coding reasons for getting rid of those links, isolation the part of the site that needs extra protection, but I try to keep track of how fast my brain is fading.

Finally remembered to "opt-in" for postseason seats. (Deadline is next Monday, 12/2.)
The order showed where my seats will be (I never get my regular seats for postseason); I don't recall seeing that before.
And it certainly looks like better seats than they stuck me with last year.

Those first two sets yesterday showed how good we can be.  Rubin was fabulous.  Of course she was great hitting, but her defense was outstanding.  UNC focused on hitting to Rubin in the back row and, after being over powered and a little screened on the first service return attempt, she was nearly flawless.  Impressive outing.  Francis is by far our best blocker and she dominated.  4 blocks/set w/ 1 solo block/set are incredible numbers.  She should be defensive player of the week just from that one outing. Ah, just saw that she was ACC defensive player of the week.

I enjoyed the match so much that I watched it again today.  Go Card.

Crazy that Rubin has not been player of the week yet!  In terms of ACC weekly awards:
Kami Miner has been Setter of the Week an astonishing 5 times
Sami Francis has been Defensive Player of the Week twice
Elena Oglive has been Defensive Player of the Week once
Ipar Kurt has been Freshman of the Week once

Wee have not had an offensive player of the week.  But if we want to feel better, Mabrey Shaffmaster, UNC's OH who was offensive player of the week on October 28, to -0.286 hitting.  4 kills and 12 errors.

A couple additions from the ACC stats:
Sami Francis has the highest hitting percentage in the ACC at .419 (minimum of 3 attempts/set); she is second in the ACC with 1.53 blocks/set
Elia Rubin is 4th in the ACC in kills/set at 3.87; she's also 3rd in the league in points/set at 4.51
Kami Miner leads the ACC in assists at 10.9/set
Jordyn Harvey is 8th in the ACC in aces (0.39/set); Taylor Yu is right behind her at 0.38/set (but in fewer sets)
Elena Oglive is 8th in the ACC with 3.90 digs/set

As a team Stanford is:
First in kills at 14.24/set
First in assists at 13.33/set (I assume the delta between kills and assists is from overpasses)

Second in hitting percentage at .321
Fourth in aces at 1.72/set
Fifth in opponents hitting percentage at .186
Tenth in blocks at 2.34/set
Thirteenth in digs at 13.51/set (I assume that this is because there are fewer opportunities since we are one of only two teams to have faced fewer than 3000 attacks, the other being Pitt, and though we've had fewer sets than any other team but UNC, even normalizing for that, I think we don't have many extended rallies given our high hitting percentage)

We hold the top two hitting percentage games (Virginia Tech at .553 and Georgia Tech at .542) and 4 of the top 10 games.
We hold two of the top five three set kill totals and the top four set kill total.

Taylor Beavan gradually working her was into the rotation is a good example. You are correct.

This 2nd to the last RPI rankings provides a perfect alignment for NCAA Top 2 regional seedings
without any need for adjustments:

1 - Nebraska     vs. 16 - TCU
8 - SMU            vs.   9 - ASU 

4 - Penn State   vs. 13 - Utah
5 - Stanford      vs.  12 - Texas

3 - Louisville      vs. 14 - Dayton
6 - Creighton      vs. 11 - Kansas 

2 - Pittsburgh    vs.  15 - Purdue
7 - Wisconsin     vs.  10 - Kentucky

Unfortunately, in this set-up, Stanford faces Texas in the R16.
The Lady Longhorns may have been inconsistent during
SEC play, losing three matches to unranked teams
but sweeping both ranked Florida and Kentucky on the road,
but they are slowly shaping up into NCAA tournament form
led by Madisen SKINNER, who had insane offensive performances
in their last 4 matches (12 sets), all routs, totalling 83-13-159
for almost 7 kills/set at a .440 hitting pct

Thanks for the bracket breakdown Joe.  I agree Texas is looking strong right now.  Still I would rather play them than Wisconsin at this point.  At the beginning of the season when Stanford played Wisconsin they had three starters in various stages of injury recovery and now are fully healthy. 

There are some big match-ups today that could restructure the top teams.  If Stanford somehow manages to beat Georgia Tech today after living in hotels for a week, the game on Saturday against Louisville could impact the seeding.  It's hard for me to believe the Louisville/Stanford game is only being live-streamed on ACCNX as far as I can tell.  It should be on ESPN1, 2, or U.

Thus far in set 1 the mistake riddled Stanford team showed up.  Can they turn it around?  My guess is yes but time will tell.
