I was at WBB, so didn't get to watch. I might have a capture of the stream to look at when I get home. Hopefully it worked this time.
Strange how Stanford crushes it in one or two sets and struggles in others. I gather some of it is about runs by our best servers; maybe also those are our best rotations in other ways.

If I counted correctly, it took five match point plays for Stanford to pull this one out. (I may have only counted those when Stanford was serving.) What has happened to their killer instinct?

It's a software problem. If Pac-12 inserts a commercial at the start of the stream, then the capture software I'm using (ffmpeg) loses the audio at the end of the commercial. So I get a silent movie. I've been trying to dig into why this happens, and I have some vague maybe ideas, but I haven't gotten to the bottom of it or found a fix as yet.

We are an Apple house. I routinely use screen capture. Broadcasters have figured out sime kind of code to put in the stream that disables all screen captures. I’ve tested this with iOS native screen video cap. On MacOS I’ve tried Camtasia and Filmage. My stone-age system remains undefeated.

I don't think this is something Pac-12 is doing to defeat capture. (I only can and only try to capture the free streams.) Just something odd about the way the stream looks with the commercial inserted in front. I'll figure it out if I am able to give it enough time. I'm a computer professional, but video streaming is a new area to me.
I think screen capture would work for me (I've tried it briefly), but capturing directly is theoretically best to keep the original resolution and frame rate. The video looks great on my captures -- and the audio too when it's there.

I'd be interested in a replay of this match only to see how Francis got injured. I wasn't watching at the instant the injury happened. I don't know if an opponent's foot came under the net and she stepped on it or she rolled her ankle based on her own motion. I assume it was a minor issue because having Francis healthy for the tournament is a higher priority than this match was.

I’ll try to speed up my progress. Experimenting with a new audio tool to see if it lives up to its promises. Will put that on hold.

I don’t recall that the video included her feet. I believe she just came down wrong. She may have run into Kipp( IIRC) but I don’t think so. She seemed quite a distance from the net so highly unlikely to be an opponent. As you know she came back in a set later.
The USC live stream announcers were pretty reasonable. They were very complimentary to our team and individuals. It seemed they completely blew the first challenge. The video showed the up ref signaled the point for Stanford & we were back to serve when the announcers seemed confused and said Stanford had challenged. But overall they were ok.
They reported that Stanford is really good on their recieves because they face their own servers at every practice.
One stat they said was that Kipp has only 5 solo blocks of her 338 blocks.
And, yes, I did see at least one left-side block but I wasn’t looking for them.

Many of us, including me, do not see Stanford's play as that of the #2 best team in the country. Yes, our RPI and wins against top 10 and top 25 teams is superb. We will be a top seed, assuming we don't lose this week at home against Utah and Cal. The question is do you think this is a championship team, a Final Four team, or a team loses a home match before then? Love to hear everyone's thoughts on this. I'd set up a poll, if I knew how to.
I think the odds of us making the Final Four is only about 50-50 with our inconsistent play. I think it is highly unlikely we win the national championship which would mean beating 2 top 5 teams, 1 top 10 team and another top 20 team in a row.

I would encourage someone to make a separate poll thread after the selection show this Sunday when Stanford's likely tournament opponents for each round will be revealed. I don't know how to do a poll either.

I agree with your assessment MSG. If Stanford plays the way they did in the fourth set against USC I predict an exit in the third round of the tournament. Skylar Fields, #2 in kills in the NCAA, was not available for that match. Plus the USC coach inserted some second stringers into the fourth set. Stanford managed to win but IMO looked far from being a final four team.
As much as I want Stanford to win another NC and will be cheering for them every step of the way, I've seen long stretches of lackluster, error-prone play in the last four matches by this Cardinal team. Good enough to prevail against the opponent but not IMO good enough to beat the best teams.

It has Stanford the #2 overall seed, with the other seeded teams in our region being Kentucky, Purdue and Kansas.
Interestingly, Stanford's first round opponent in this hypothetical is Denver, where 6th-year grad student and Stanford alumna Mackenzie Fidelak is the starting Opposite. ETA: I see Denver was beaten by Omaha in the Summit League tournament. I think that eliminates them from the NCAA tournament.
As for Stanford's prospects (IMHO): I think Stanford has the potential to beat anyone and win it all, but has not shown the consistency that would be needed to accomplish that. I would guess their odds of making the final four are about 60-65%. I'm not ready to make a prediction beyond that yet.

At 3:20 I put video on 2160 resolution and .25 speed. She was close to coming down on Kipp's foot but looks like she just landed wrong on her own.
I liked this video. Editor went to a lot of effort to remove all pauses in action between rallys.
