RE: Stanford Baseball 2023 - PalmTree - 06-12-2023

WHAAAA........WHOOOOOOT!!!!!!!!!

RE: Stanford Baseball 2023 - ADPinWDC - 06-12-2023

WOW -- Home Field Advantage -- fly ball lost in the lights, instead of a bad hop single.  7-6 in b9th
"Sunken Diamond" for Longhorns.   Really sad to be in orange tonight.
ON TO OMAHA.

Wake Forest looks like a Monster...

RE: Stanford Baseball 2023 - Langdude - 06-12-2023

Texas got back into it by playing sound baseball, making solid contact, and not making mistakes, while Stanford let the lead slip by making mistakes on the basepaths and not pitching strikes. Then Texas lost by making a brobdingnagian mistake. Wow. Little League coaches yell at their teams for that sort of thing.

Win and advance. Let's sharpen things up for Omaha, get Bruno back to being himself, and remind our big hitters that they are our big hitters.

All trips to Omaha thankfully count the same. But I believe in celebrating in this achievement;
but there will also be a lot to improve on if Stanford is to make a run in Omaha and not go 0-2
again.

I truly have no idea how 4 guys for Texas all lose that ball. But nobody ended up even near it. So apparently yes that did happen. Somehow.

I will celebrate this win. I would have preferred Rios walking it off with a HR but a win is a win.

On to OMAHA!

Award for the best prescient comment by a baseball announcer: With one on, two out, B9, tie do-or-die game, the announcer says "This game has had everything."  Two minutes later, Stanford wins on a sky high fly that no fielder sees.

I went to the last game a week ago and wound up standing out behind the left center fence, which I haven't ever done before.  When the ball was hit, I  was clueless where it was going.  I couldn't pick it out and couldn't figure out how the outfielders did.    I figured it was just my old eyes.

UTexas can curse ESPN for the 5PM start and the 8:45PM finish. (Sunset was 8:30PM)

RE: Stanford Baseball 2023 - vataha - 06-12-2023

Incredulous, from the ping of the ball off the bat to the trajectory to the camera shots our minds raced ahead and Dam! Out #3…. But OOOhh SH#*t! ? Holy smokes. Crazy.

RE: Stanford Baseball 2023 - oldalum - 06-12-2023

I suspect Rios also lost his ball in the lights/sky.

RE: Stanford Baseball 2023 - Branner77 - 06-12-2023

Never in doubt.

Bring on Wake!

I agree with you.  I view this win as a bit of the baseball "Spirit" making up for the horrendous performance on the home plate umpire calls in game one.

RE: Stanford Baseball 2023 - terry - 06-12-2023

As Willie Keeler said, "him 'em where they ain't"! Sometimes you need some luck. I'll take it!

RE: Stanford Baseball 2023 - martyup - 06-12-2023

And with that ball lost in the lights, Texas lost the Director's Cup.  Yippee ki-yay!!!

Ummm - so you're asking somebody who thinks Garner's knee was down on "The Play" and that Stepfan was freakin' IN in the 2012 ND game?!?!? YEAH - it just happened!!!

That may be romantic, but Texas had no way to catch Stanford after the Men's Outdoor T&F.  Texas won W T&F (Stanford's points for W T&F are dropped) and had Texas won MCWS, they still would have been 10 points short of Stanford.
