How quickly did Reilly Gibbons get an app in?

Ben Gardner was only offered about a week before signing day, and had to rush his application in that time. That turned out well for us.

Admissions can read an application very quickly once submitted. There is no need for a two month window. If Irwin still needs to improve his grades and scores, then he would have little incentive to turn in the rest of his application now, and it might be a perfectly reasonable decision to focus on said grades and scores before he turns to his essays over the winter break. There are the famous cases of Bradford and Okwo back in 2003, but I have non-specific recollections that lots of kids submit applications at the end of the calendar year.Â

I'm surprised the tweet embedding doesn't recognize twitter.com URLs.

The person who wrote the plug-in didn't want to do any more work on it. You're right, though. It would seem to be a simple matter of addition a conditional loop....

Question:Â Has Stanford ever landed a recruit who had not submitted an application by December 5?
Irwin is retaking the SAT tomorrow.

I know Rasheem Green has kind of been a long shot for a while now, but this report makes it seem like the door is closing and closing fast.

The important part:
Quote:"They want me to take the ACT again, take the test again and I'm not sure that's something I want to do. I took the classes but they want me to take the test again. I'm not sure about that."
Meanwhile, he had in-home visits from USC and Miami. I'm guessing they weren't suggesting a retake.

How in the world does one miss a scheduled home visit? Sounds like a planned snub...he must have really not liked the suggestion to take the ACT again.

If you've gone to all the trouble to take the classes, how much extra trouble is it to just show up at the test center and spend a half a day retaking the test?

This is the time for Stanford's coaching staff to play the All Pac-12 Academic Team card. Ask Mr. Green and his parents how many U$C football players were on the team. Ask them if the two guys that were, ever saw the field.
Then, make the connection between Stanford's admissions requirements, Stanford's grad rate, and how many players it puts on the all-academic team who are also on the All Conference team.
U$C talks a good game about being able to offer recruits the similar educational opportunities that Stanford offers, but the bottom line is they don't deliver, and it doesn't seem they care that they don't either, because having nobody on the all-academic team is a freaking embarrassment when you consider there are what, 52 spots?

I jumped the gun!
It looks like the coaches never setup a definite in-home visit and just showed up at his high school without much notice. The article does not say which coaches were present.

Well:
1/ You have to get psyched up to take it. That takes energy and requires effort.
2/ If you are really serious about it, you should do some preparation. That requires time and effort.
But yeah, it seems like the AP classes would be enough of a commitment that an extra ACT session shouldn't be that much a burden.Â

Rivals really likes Stanford's targets this year. Irwin moved into the top 50 and Scarlett moved into the top 100 (despite a disappointing senior season and a serious injury). In addition, I note that Edwards, Meeks, Wilson, and Williams continue to have 4-star ratings with Rivals, but not with Scout.

Guessing Drukarev is confirming positive vibes on St. Brown:

Why do you say Irwin had a disappointing season. I've heard that about St. Brown but not Irwin.

The disappointment was being applied to Scarlett, not Irwin.
