That's a great question. Interestingly, Tinker and Evers are not generally considered to be HOF-worthy. Meanwhile, Gil Hodges has had HOF support over the years and could eventually join Robinson and Reese.

There is at least one case (besides Tinker/Evers/Chance) of three hall of fame infielders playing together over an extended period, although they were a first baseman, shortstop and third baseman. This trio played in the same infield from 1936 through 1939. Guesses?

There are two instances in baseball history where the entire infield was inducted.

NY Giants... High Pockets Kelly, Frankie Frisch, Travis Jackson and Freddie Lindstrom.
Splitting time with Kelly at first was Bill Terry, also in the Hall.

There aren't many third sackers in the Hall and the only one I can come up with in your timeframe is Stan Hack who played with Billy Herman but Ripper Collins at first, although a good player isn't in the Hall. But catcher Gabby Hartnett is.

So perhaps it's somebody who played with Ray Dandrige, considered the best third baseman in the Negro Leagues and who is enshrined.

Indeed, Dandridge at third base, Willie Wells at shortstop and Mule Suttles at first baseman played together on the Newark Bears.

Carlisle is now home to the Carlisle Barracks part of the US Army's War College. Of course Thorpe played way before the 50's. Hint: the school in question was located east of the East River.

I don't know what night you mean but Grier and Rafer Johnson were not professional bodyguards and were partially responsible for RFK's assassination. It wasn't until George Wallace was shot that the president ordered SS on all major candidates prior to the nominating conventions.

Marshall's nickname was "Wrong way."

Beg to differ Bobbbbbbb. My father was covering Bobby for the last six weeks of the primary campaign. He liked Rosie and Rafer immensely but they were no match for professionals. The exit through the kitchen pantry was not scouted, nobody was searched and it was chaotic. Bobby would have lived for decades if he had SS protection. I traveled with McGovern, Shriver and Humphrey and after a bit you realize how good the SS is.

I assume by SS you mean Secret Service. Even Liebstandarte Adolf Hitler failed in the end.

It's a stretch to put responsibility on Grier and Johnson. Kennedy did have a professional bodyguard (Bill Barry) who was an ex-FBI agent, presumably responsible for securing the areas that Kennedy was walking through. Unfortunately, Barry was unarmed (presumably on Kennedy's orders) and as they walked through the kitchen Ethel Kennedy found herself panicked as she was engulfed by supporters, so Kennedy directed Barry to go help her; Kennedy was shot while Barry attended to his wife. Grier and Johnson were volunteer bodyguards but not in charge of security. Immediately after the assassination Congress passed a law authorizing the secret service to provide protection for presidential and vice presidential candidates. 

There were 18 secret service agents present when George Wallace was shot in Maryland in 1972. Crowds has been so hostile that the secret service had recommended that Wallace cancel open events and had increased the numbers of agents on his protective detail, but were still unable to prevent what happened.

Laurens Pierce was often closer to Wallace than his agents. That's why Pierce was able to have a shot (for CBS News) of the shooting from close range. To his credit he had an over the shoulder shot of the assassin and the actual shot and then calmly followed Wallace to the ground and tilted back to capture a few frames of Arthur Bremner being restrained. I think that the SS guys may have been outliers assigned to the former governor as were many during the '72 campaign. I talked with guys from various agencies assigned because there were many Democrat candidates and not enough SS staffers to cover everybody. McGovern and Humphrey had the best agents IMO.

My RFK reference point was my father who had extensively covered Ike, LBJ and Goldwater and who knew good security from mediocre security. Of course nobody is invulnerable (JFK, Reagan). It's a tough job.

Getting back to trivia: Dan Diedorf and Alan Page are the two members of the HOF who were born in Canton. Marion Motley grew up in Canton But was born elsewhere.
