I'm glad that we finally show signs of life as soon as I can start watching. Maybe I should've started watching sooner!

RE: Stanford Oregon Game thread - BostonCard - 09-22-2018

By the way, it is worth noting that we ran out of the heavy set, and I am sure everyone watching knew it was a run.  And yet Love still broke through and scored.

The problem this year has not been that we run that formation and that we run out of it.  The problem has been that there have been too few of those plays and too many stops for 1 yard or negative yards.

Unbelievable that we pulled Wilson and Love hits the hole before Wilson gets there.

How is this a three point game?

BC

I don't know if we are going to end up winning this but if we did it would be one of the greatest comebacks in Stanford football history.

RE: Stanford Oregon Game thread - BostonCard - 09-22-2018

ESPN's win probability went from 98.6% win probability for Oregon (on the first and goal play) to 65.5% after the Love touchdown.

Oregon is still favored, and for good reason.  They have played much better than the score indicates, and they do have a three point lead and the ball.  Oregon is winning the yardage battle 386 - 213.  They are leading time of possession (yes, they are leading TOP) 26 - 19.  They are dominating both lines.

But we got a brobdingnagian sack on third down, and all of a sudden we've forced two three and outs.

All right offense, you can do this!

I sure hope everyone is wearing their lucky shirt!!!

"This place is quiet.  The Ducks look shell-shocked."

Sigh.  We had third and 2 and gave two tries and couldn't gain the two yards.

There are problems with our offensive line.

Scarlett is not a great runner.  Not fast, not strong, not shifty.  Runs like a slow fullback.

They stuff us on 4th and 1 and now they are moving the ball. Oh well.

Also I think he would have been a better target for the wheel route.  As soon as Love went into a route, Oregon was all over it.

Yeah, what was supposed to be the strength of the team at the beginning of the year has now become the weakness.
We have to hold them to a field goal on this drive.

RE: Stanford Oregon Game thread - BostonCard - 09-22-2018

In contrast, ORegon on fourth and 1 gets a touchdown.

BC

Can we hope for another bad snap and scoop and score?

He was automatic on those last year. I don't think he's the problem.

RE: Stanford Oregon Game thread - Phogge - 09-22-2018

Better recruit a dynamic safety. Killing Stanford.

RE: Stanford Oregon Game thread - dabigv13 - 09-22-2018

Let's dial up that Alfieri play here....

RE: Stanford Oregon Game thread - Langdude - 09-22-2018

Really frustrating... Not making the fourth and one cost us the game. Though, the way that the offense just rolled down the field suggests that Oregon would have scored again anyways. On their fourth and one, they had a broken play but the lack of pressure on Herbert made it a TD. Whoever was left side OLB on that play should have contained.

Feel like every time we've rolled out jumbo on 4th and 1 over the last couple of years, we've been stuffed. Probably not much the O-line can do in those tight quarters.

Remound and Gaffney could make it work - the others not as much.

I don't think that was a broken play, I think it was intended to fool the defense.

Exactly. Imagination in play calling. What a concept.
