Can't believe we didn't try to throw once on 1st and goal from the 10...

And on the last one he grabbed the facemask.

It would be great if we could get these refs next week.

I will take the 3 (and a tied game), but between the Costello underthrow to OSB and running down the playclock on third down leading to rushed draw (instead fade route to JJAW, or crosser to TE), we left points off the board. Plain and simple.

Yeah, I mean predictable is not that much of a concern if you can predictably get touchdowns.  On the other hand, when you have an offensive line that can't block worth a damn, and your star running back is out with a bad ankle... sometimes running surprise plays just for the sake of doing something unexpected is stupid.

Stanford's offense has to be pass-first to succeed. Three straight runs inside the ten was pretty much never going to work.

Credit to the defense so far.

RE: ASU Game Thread - BostonCard - 10-18-2018

The good news "we will try an 'abbreviated' halftime".

Herbert has the ability to throw before the break consistently. Costello does not. I think he would be better with quick tempo.

Yeah.  Pass a little to get the defense away from the box.  Then there's more room there.

Interesting time out by Stanford on third-and-medium for AZ State.

And it backfires. Don't know who was responsible for the back.

RE: ASU Game Thread - BostonCard - 10-18-2018

The time out was a mistake in retrospect.

Was it? 2 minutes is an eternity in cfb.

RE: ASU Game Thread - BostonCard - 10-18-2018

ASU got too cute there.  Great play by Barton to stay in coverage.

Well, under further review, it was not a mistake.  Of course, we are starting on our own 11.

Game won or lost on this Stanford drive?
