There will be a QB. Staff doesn't want another West so they're over-evaluating (and taking way too long to do so).

When it isn't vey long the tortoise will lose the race to the hare.

Quote: Mark your calendar for National Signing Day next Wednesday, Feb. 5, when Stanford looks to add several more scholar-ballers on offense and defense to the exciting 22-man #CardClass20 cadre who signed in December during the early signing period

“Several” = 2? Or 2 + an LDS mission?

2 + the mission, and they will probably also count PWOs as they did in December (18 schollies + 4 PWOs = their 22 figure).

Per Rivals (not behind the paywall), QB Miller Moss has set March 7 as his commitment date. His final 7 from last summer did not include Stanford, but he's shown interest in us through last weekend. The kicker is that we have not offered him as far as I know. Realistically, is Mr. Moss still in play for Stanford or is he Josh Rosen, version 2021?

He visited Stanford last week. Very much still in play.

RE: Class of 2021 - OutsiderFan - 02-04-2020

I'm very skeptical about Miller Moss.  Just don't see great athleticism or an overly impressive arm. He does seem to have accuracy, but his highlights betray a guy who gets great pass protection and doesn't make plays under duress.

Who else is Stanford looking at for a QB offer? And WHY has there been no offer to any QB just over 10 months before signing day?

Huh? Please don't tell me no QBs have been offered yet because West was offered earlier than this and he didn't pan out.

RE: Class of 2021 - Papa John - 02-04-2020

Per Rivals, Miller Moss, out of Bishop Alemany HS in Mission Hills, CA, is the #74 player nationally and #7 pro-style QB. He has offers from:
Alabama
ASU
Arkansas
Auburn
Boston College
Cal
Colorado
Georgia
Harvard
Kentucky
LSU
Miami
Michigan
North Carolina State
SJSU
UCLA
USC
WSU
Yale

He has interest--whatever that really means--from Ohio State, Oregon, TCU and Wisconsin.

The top 5 QBs, per Rivals, have already committed to Georgia, Ohio State, UW and USC. The #6 QB, Garrett Nussmeier, is from Texas. While he is still uncommitted, Rivals has Nussmeier pegged for LSU.

So that's a long-winded way of saying that, yeah, I'm really happy to hear that Miller Moss is still in play for Stanford. I guess we'll know for certain on March 7.

RE: Class of 2021 - SamuelMcF - 02-05-2020

We're expecting some '21 offers today/soon since '20 is done.

Wilkins is a composite very-high-3*/borderline-4* DL from Santa Margarita Catholic (Orange County, KJ Costello's HS) with clear academic chops. 4.0 GPA and 31 ACT. This offer makes 11 P5 in total, and it's his 6th in the past week (Stanford, UW, Mississippi State, BC, Kansas, Nebraska). Like like like.

3* WR J. Michael Sturdivant from Marcus HS in TX, Kaden Smith's HS. He has visited us before and coach Kennedy has been to his school. Reports a 3.5 GPA. This is his 17th P5 offer - Oklahoma, Kansas State, and Wisconsin have also offered just this week alone.

4* S from Wisconsin, currently committed to the Badgers. I've seen a 4.0 GPA.

How often does Stanford seduction after a kid commits elsewhere happen?

RE: Class of 2021 - SamuelMcF - 02-06-2020

There are multiple flips every year.

RE: Class of 2021 - OutsiderFan - 02-06-2020

Can’t remember the last Stanford commit from a football player from Wisconsin with a Wisconsin offer. Stanford seems to do worst in the Midwest than any other region of the country.

Wanna take a guess at how many football players from Wisconsin we've offered in the last dozen classes?

One.

This one.

Overall your point about the Midwest is somewhat accurate, though the sample size is quite small. Not that many Midwest offers in the first place. For instance, I count 5 out of 74 in the last class.
