Salinda down 4 through 9 and Tuleubayev down 3 through 8, but Wu is up 4 through 9.
The other two matches are closer, with Shimp down 1 through 11 and Snyder up 1 through 10.
Wake still leading 3-2, but some clarity emerging on what needs to happen....
Shimp down 1 through 13
Snyder up 2 through 12
Salinda down 2 through 11
Wu up 6 through 11
Tuleubayev down 5 through 10
If Wu and Snyder can hold on, we need either Shimp or Salinda to turn their matches around. Salinda has won the last two holes, so perhaps that momentum will continue?
Notes:
* Wu played the back 9 of this course in 33 strokes, which is 8 strokes better than he did yesterday.
* After winning 11 to go up 1, Salinda then lost 12, 13, 14, 16, and 18 to go down 4 before winning 1 and 2 to get back to down 2. Salinda played the back 9 in 39 strokes.
Tightening at the top! The team match is now tied at 2-2-1, with one match tied, and Stanford and Wake each leading two matches, one by 6 holes and one by 1.

Salinda down 1 through 12 (he's won three straight holes!)

Salinda has now won 3 holes in a row to get to 1 down with 6 holes left. So if either he or Shimp (down 1 with 5 left) can get a point, and Snyder can hold his now 1-hole lead, we're good.

Interestingly, the sacrificial lamb, SMU, is hanging in there against Oklahoma State. The Cowboys lead 3-2, but SMU is up 2 in 2 matches, and one of Oklahoma State's leads is just 1 hole through 10.
And the Vanderbilt-Texas A&M match is very close. Vandy already booked one win, 5&4 in the first match, but the rest of the matches are tight (two of them tied, Vandy up 1 through 14 on one, and A&M up 2 through 12 on the last one).
Salinda wins his 4th hole in a row and his match is now all square!
Stanford now leads 2-1-2 (though calling it a lead when you don't yet lead in the number of matches you need to win is a bit odd):
Shimp tied through 14
Snyder up 1 through 13
Salinda tied through 13
Wu up 5 through 12
Tuleubayev down 6 through 11
If team match play golf is anything like tennis, I would think it would be a nice confidence boost for the rest of the team if Wu won this next hole and ended his match 6&5
Oh boy. Snyder has now lost two holes in a row and his match is tied.
That's three tied matches, with the last two matches big leads for each team:

Salinda tied through 13
Wu up 5 through 12

Make that five straight holes won by Salinda, who now leads at 1 up through 14. And Snyder joins him by winning 15, and he's 1 up! Meanwhile, Wu has lost two straight and is now up 4 through 13.

Salinda wins his sixth straight hole and is now 2 up!
Just a handful of meaningful holes left, as Shimp is tied with just the last hole to play (unless more is needed, of course) and the last two matches still look like they might end before the earlier ones do.
* Wu shares the honors on 14, and he's up 4 holes with 4 to go.
* Salinda is up 2 with 3 to go.
* Snyder is up 1 with 2 to go.
* Shimp is tied with just the last hole to play.
Meanwhile, Tuleubayev is fighting and trying to hang in there, scoring a 3 on the 3rd hole and winning the 4th. He trails by 5 holes with 5 to play.
Sigh.... Snyder loses the 17th and that match is now all tied up going into the last hole.
Wu and Salinda (now 2 up with 2 to go) look like they'll deliver, so we need one of Shimp or Snyder to step it up.
Two matches now decided, as Wu wins 4&3 and Wake Forest wins 5&4 over Tuleubayev.
Depending on how Shimp and Snyder play the 9th, we could win in two minutes or lose in two minutes.
Shimp loses his last hole and thus his match. Shucks. (His opponent bogeyed it, too; Shimp doubled it. Ouch.)
It's all on Snyder now.

Shimp made a mess of his final hole to lose to a bogey. He missed the green with a short iron, pitched to 30 feet, left his first putt 8 feet short, then missed to lose the match.
Meanwhile, Salinda almost made his tee shot on his 17th hole to secure Stanford's second point.
All comes down to Snyder. He just missed the green short left on 18 after his opponent drove into the high rough. Both players will be scrambling.

We get the winner of Vanderbilt and Texas A&M, which is still going on. Vanderbilt won the first two matches, A&M won the next two, and the final match is tied through 15.
That match will be this afternoon--not sure precisely when, though.

Salinda's experience showed. He is a senior who made it to semifinals of the US Amateur last summer. He was playing a freshman who got on a bad run and could not stop it. Salinda hit some good shots then let his opponent make mistakes.
While Stanford does not advance without Salinda's turnaround, Snyder's clutch play on 18 was tremendous. He executed two exquisite shots (bunker shot and putt) with all of the pressure on him. Kudos to him. And I hope that Shimp will learn some things from his experience and handle the pressure better next time.

Vandy-Tamu last match now tied going into the 18th, so now sudden death (or sudden victory if you prefer)
Salinda won 7 out of the last 8 holes.
It all came down to the last hole (#9), which Shimp lost with a double bogey and Snyder won with a (edit: par) [not a ]bogey.

Coach Rahy likely will try to play Vandy straight up.
Vandy is very strong at the top
but weak at four and five,
Harrison Ott and Reid Davenport.
Daulet can win straight up against either guy.

Both Texas A&M and Vanderbilt have similar rosters in terms of experience.
Vandy - 2 seniors, 1 junior, 1 soph, 1 frosh
A&M - 1 senior, 2 juniors, 1 soph, 1 frosh
Stanford plays 2 seniors, 2 juniors and a frosh
I don't really favor one opponent or the other. At this point, anybody can beat just about anybody. The only difference between Vandy and A&M is that A&M is seeded lower than Stanford which would allow Coach Ray to make the first decision in the lineup announcement.
Will be curious to see where Coach Ray puts Daulet, who did not respond well to being the anchor this morning. Tough place for a freshman.
