Wow thanks. What a match.
Great zoom too

On to Phoenix, which is hosting the "Pac-12 North Invitational", strangely. Stanford will take on Arizona, UCLA, USC and Cal.
BobK, are spectators allowed on campus (outside)?
If so, I will try and go to the Pac-12/WCC Challenge later in the month.

I read friends and family. But hope more possible soon.

CollegeBeachVB.com has moved Stanford up to #7, from #9.
The AVCA poll for this week should be soon.
My attempt to include the instagram post did not seem to work.
AVCA puts Stanford tied for 7th:
https://www.avca.org/polls/beach/4-6-2021.html
As pointed out, only 5 teams from the "West" make the NCAA tournament. (Which does not depend on the poll really, but on perception.)

Is Texas considered part of "the West" for the purposes of the tournament?
Figure USC, UCLA are shoo ins. Then it's between LMU, Stanford, Cal Poly, TCU(?), GCU, and maybe Pepperdine and Cal...
A bunch of matches left against some of those teams.

I think so, but I'm trying to get clarification. If TCU were East, that would improve Stanford's chances (at least a little).

I'm told that since TCU is in the CCSA for beach volleyball (which I confirmed), they are considered "East".
So the three eastern bids (at this point) look like FSU, LSU and TCU (all in the CCSA for BVB).
The three West bids could be UCLA, USC and LMU, with the at-large going to Cal Poly and Stanford.
That's my optimistic scenario.

Stanford goes from #12 to tied for #7. That's a bigger move than I expected. There's still a ton of games to play. This weekend they play UCLA and USC. That might be two losses. All the other games are winnable.

Stanford takes on #12 Arizona at 11:30am Saturday, and then #1 UCLA at 3:15pm. I'd be happy with a split, but of course 0-2 or 2-0 are possible.

Arizona beat Stanford 3-2.
Stanford's #1 and #2 teams got beat pretty convincingly based on the scores.
Realistically Stanford will go 1-3 or 0-4 this weekend. Losing to Arizona was tough. Losing to the #1 and #2 teams can be explained away as far as not dropping in the poll.
RE: Stanford Beach Volleyball -
johnbar - 04-10-2021
Stanford got the point at 3, so lose 3-2.
Stanford's teams all lost the first set, except the 3s. The 5s ended up winning their second and third sets decisively: 17-21, 21-14, 15-5.
The 4s were thumped 21-14, 21-13.
RE: Stanford Beach Volleyball -
BobK - 04-10-2021
I thought losing 21-19 for each teams 1 and 2 was close
RE: Stanford Beach Volleyball -
johnbar - 04-10-2021
Stanford loses the 1s and 2s to UCLA. Close first sets again, but 21-14 and 21-13 in the second sets.
Maybe our teams are too predictable? Opponents are better at adjusting?
The other three courts are going three sets.
Looks like UCLA has won the 4s, giving them the meet. 12-21, 21-12, 15-5
RE: Stanford Beach Volleyball -
BobK - 04-10-2021
Got really excited when we win three first sets.
RE: Stanford Beach Volleyball -
johnbar - 04-10-2021
The 5s have fallen. Hoping the 3s can avoid the sweep.
Harvey & Kriz hang on to win at the 3s, 22-20, 16-21, 16-14
Stanford better at least beat Cal tomorrow, or it will really hurt their ranking.
RE: Stanford Beach Volleyball -
johnbar - 04-11-2021
USC wins the first sets 1-4; but Sharp & Smith outlast the Nourse twins 26-24.
Second sets underway.
USC wins 1s, 3s, and 4s. And will take 2s shortly.
5s going to 3rd set.
RE: Stanford Beach Volleyball -
johnbar - 04-11-2021
Sharp & Smith beat the Nourses, avoiding the sweep.
Glad for that.
Really hope Stanford bounces back and beats Cal later this p.m.

Bearing the Nourse twins was fun.
Beat cal

I have not confirmed this, but according to a post on VT, it is the Nourses first loss of the year.
