Hey guys, Twitter is free! (unless you're counting the personal information and marketing impressions that you traded to be there.)  This is probably the gist of what Rivals had to say.

My sense is that DD may have had a particular problem with his new role.

RE: MBB: STAN vs USC (blowout loss) - AlbanyCardinal - 03-05-2021

For Haase's sake there better be more to the story than this. Every coach has to reintegrate injured players into the rotation. Does anyone on this planet think this team is better off without all the depth it can muster, irrespective of who starts? How'd it work out when Haase sat ZW for 2/3rds of that WSU loss? I'd also challenge this notion that Haase's "wonder" lineup did measurably better; it tanked at Utah, Colorado (fair enough), ASU, and WSU. Three of those losses are the worst of the season, without competition, really.

I say all this not knowing all the facts, but so far the picture coming into focus doesn't have me sympathizing much with coach.

How about a 17-point loss to Oregon with Wills and Ziaire playing full minutes?

RE: MBB: STAN vs USC (blowout loss) - AlbanyCardinal - 03-05-2021

That's not close to one of the worst losses for me. Oregon's stacked with talent and that was away. I'd add the $¢ loss from the other day among the worst, but definitely not at Oregon.

We led that game with 9 minutes to go in the second half.  I remember thinking at the time that if we'd had Davis, we might have won.

For my money, David Lombardi was the best of the bunch.  Fortunately for him, he now covers the 49ers.

If that's the whole story he should be fired. There were enough games left on the schedule to get those three back in the rotation, and it was almost like he never really even tried. I really hope there's more to the story than this.

Wow far more to the story.

Someone setup an anonymous account and spill it. It's going to come out sooner or later anyway :>

I don't think you should spill the beans, but can you perhaps give a very vague and general idea as to whether this is a coaching issue or player issue?

Players

Thanks. I was asking because there's been a lot of speculation in this thread assuming this is probably a Haase issue. I don't know anything, but it sounds like we need to tone down the coach speculation.

Well, given the Head Coach is in charge of everything, it's both coach and players.

One thing I'm curious about is if ZW getting special treatment was the foundational problem that led to a breakdown in the established team culture.

Still, after watching the end of regulation in the WSU game, poor coaching was to some degree responsible as well.

RE: MBB: STAN vs USC (blowout loss) - BobK - 03-06-2021

The opposite of special treatment
Wrong on the coach 24-7
Yes the coaching was terrible vs WSU

RE: MBB: STAN vs USC (blowout loss) - PVTree - 03-06-2021

Wow! Condoms just beat the Polar Bears by 1, 64-63 with a last second fade-away corner 3. It was the Condom's first lead of the game.

That’s not a “story”. It’s speculation.

I'm assuming we won't see Davis on the floor again as a Stanford player. Should I assume the same about Wills?

Simple solution. Fire Haase, hire Walton. It gets him off TV.

I think the Geneva Convention forbids doing this to POWs, let alone your own students.

I signed up for Rivals to satisfy my curiosity. My takeaway: it is largely incorrect to blame the coach in this case. I mean if you want to get very abstract and philosophical you could conclude Haase deserves some small fraction of the blame. But this is basically on some of the players. Some things are beyond the control of any coach. And sometimes good kids make bad decisions.

Despite the many challenges the team faced this season, Haase had the team performing well under the circumstances until the last few games. I see the first ~90% of the season as far more indicative of Haase and his coaching than the last 10%.

Just my two cents.
