Buster gets the assist.  Nailed two guys trying to steal with perfect throws.  And they had to be perfect.  Quite possibly a different game if he doesn’t get them.  Webb was so-so at best. Command issues, again.  Bullpen 4 excellent innings.

La Stella also had a nice game.

Giants are 5-3, or 101-61 when fully extrapolated over the course of the season.  They're 1 game behind the Dodgers, and 1/2 game behind the 6-3 Padres (whom they've beaten twice).

Apparently the curse of AT&T Park has returned.  The Giants currently 23rd in batting average and OPS among the 30 MLB teams, 24th in runs scored, but 6th in HRs.  Ruf, Longoria, La Stella and Posey are doing well.  Solano and Dickerson are okay.  Everyone else is in a slump, including Stanford's Own Austin Slater (4/26 with 4 walks, 1 extra base hit (HR) and 11 strikeouts).  But Slater is still doing better than Yastrzemski.

Conversely, Giants are 5th in MLB in pitching ERA and 8th in WHIP.  And fielding-wise, Giants are tied for 3rd in MLB with a .993 average and 8th in overall efficiency after committing the most errors in MLB in spring training. 

Go figure.

After yesterday's shutout, Giants now #2 in all of MLB in ERA, #9 in WHIP, #19 in strikeouts.  Unfortunately, on the batting side, they're #25 in runs scored and #19 in OPS.

BTW, Kapler is 35-34 for his SF Giants career.  He has a better SF Giants managing winning percentage than Bruce Bochy (1,052-1,054).

And the SF Giants ERA is 2.24 as the starters have logged 5+ innings in nine consecutive games, the third longest streak in franchise history behind the 2002 club (12 starts) and the 1937 NY Giants (10 starts).

Giants now have a 7-4 record.  Padres and Giants currently own 4th and 5th place NL wild cards, and Giants' record is as good as the central division leader, Cincinnati and better than the Eastern leading-New York Mets, who are 4-3.  Giants are 1/2 game behind Padres in win column and are on 103 win pace.  Giants are 4th in HRs in MLB, but 20th in OPS.  6th in ERA.

Fun fact: Giants' starters have made it through at least the fifth inning in eleven consecutive games, all eleven in fact.  That's the second-longest streak in the 139-year history of the team, behind the 12 straight in 2002.  Starters in that 95-66 season were Livan Hernandez (12-16), Russ Ortiz (14-10), Kirk Rueter (14-8), Jason Schmidt (13-8) and Ryan Jensen (13-8).

On this date in 2019, the following teams were leading their respective divisions:
AL East: Tampa Bay
AL Central: Minnesota
AL West: Seattle
AL Wildcards: Houston, Detroit
NL East: Philadelphia
NL Central: Milwaukee
NL West: San Diego
NL Wilscards: NY Mets, St. Louis

Of those, Minnesota, Houston, St. Louis won their division and Tampa Bay and Milwaukee were wild card teams.

That's pretty decent considering that only about 10% of the games had been played.
