She seems like a terrific person, and I REALLY hope she makes it, but I've thought from the beginning that #6 was too high. She's an excellent defensive player and disrupter for players 6 ft and under, so long as they aren't super quick. But, she has never had a consistent go to offensive move. Her 3 pt is totally inconsistent, and she never developed a midrange jump shot or floater. Her main choice is a streak to the basket, but half the time her layup is too strong. Plus, there are more agile bigs in the pros to defend.

Maybe they keep her around and tell her to shoot 500 3's a day. That seems like the most productive road to offensive improvement.

Why would she be defending a big?  Wouldn't she be defending a 2?  I'm not sure I see her as a 3 in the pros.  Or are you saying she's a 'tweener defensively?

No, there would be more agile bigs to defend her layup is what I meant.

Yep

She actually shoots midrange off a curl pretty well. But yeah, I don't remember a floater.

RE: Lexie Hull - BostonCard - 05-13-2022

She played today, but was at the end of the bench, going 0-1 in 3 minutes.  Alana Smith played 9 minutes and managed 2 points and 4 rebounds.  Fever won in OT to get to .500

Well, at least she scored. Hopefully this breaks the slump, cause this has been by far the longest of her career to date, and couldn't have come at a worse time.

RE: Lexie Hull - old spanish trail - 05-15-2022

Her first points??? Yikes.

Note it was a pass from Alanna that gave her the ball.

RE: Lexie Hull - 2006alum - 05-18-2022

Lexie finally had a game closer to what we hoped from her. In a 22-point loss to the Dream, Lexie took advantage of Nalyssa Smith's ankle injury to get some more playing time, and in 10 minutes she shot 3-7 (though 0-4 from outside), 1 RB, 2 AST, 1 STL and the best +/- of anyone on the Fever (-1). Here's hoping she builds from this game going forward and gets her confidence back.

(Smith had a more forgettable game, going 1-7 for 2 points in 18 minutes)

Pretty impressive that 2022 #1 pick Rhyne HOWARD currently leads the WNBA in scoring at 20.4 ppg and also tops the league with 17 3pt FGs made as she spearheads her Atlanta Dream team to a three-way tie for the best record at 4-1.

Meanwhile, Lexie's teammate and 2022 #2 pick NaLyssa SMITH is also doing well, averaging a double double with 13.3 ppg and 10.0 rpg (3rd in the league)

Finally, 2022 #3 pick Shakira AUSTIN's stats are pretty good, as well, averaging 9.0 ppg, 5.8 rpg and 1.2 bpg while shooting a league 3rd best 63.3 FG%

Fever fire Marian Stanley. Want to proceed in "new direction". Asst Carlos Knox interim head coach

Not sure if a coaching change will help Lexie.  Loved her game in college and was hoping she would be able to hang with the quicker, more athletic players in the WNBA, but (watching her), she has problems, defensively, guarding her opponents, especially on ball screens.  Can better defense be learned?  Perhaps, but I think she needs an Assistant Coach helping her.

RE: Lexie Hull - 2006alum - 05-25-2022

I agree that this doesn't bode well for her. I think Staley was a little (irrationally) high on her. The frustrating part is that her shooting has been so streaky - at least if she was sharpshooting from outside, it would offset her need to adjust to defense in the W. But when neither one is especially clicking, her spot's harder to justify on a roster.

RE: Lexie Hull - old spanish trail - 05-25-2022

I wonder if Tara sold Stanley on Lexi. They are still good friends, I think. If Stanley is her supporter, you are right.  This can't be good.

RE: Lexie Hull - martyup - 05-25-2022

Good thing Lexie has a Stanford degree.  She'll be fine.

RE: Lexie Hull - Jskass - 05-25-2022

Or two!

RE: Lexie Hull - TheFarm07 - 05-30-2022

Kiana gets another chance with the Storm:

She had 5 points on 2/7 shooting for Seattle against New York in 14 minutes of play over the weekend.

RE: Lexie Hull - Card10Fan - 05-30-2022

Fever waive Alanna Smith today (IMO who has played better to this point than Hull).

Maybe Lexie will play better once finals are over next week…

RE: Lexie Hull - mbdude - 05-30-2022

Nobody happy with Alanna being cut per Fever Twitter feed

RE: Lexie Hull - acerep - 05-30-2022

The Sun signed Karlie Samuelson to a hardship contract May 25.
