interesting that we don't play ucla and usc as non-conference games. not to mention our old regulars baylor and uconn.

RE: Stanford Women's Basketball 2024-2025 - BobK - 09-19-2024

The ACC league schedule will be released Tuesday afternoon next week

RE: Stanford Women's Basketball 2024-2025 - bl82 - 09-19-2024

Surely there are some rumblings on how the transfers and frosh look? Anyone?

Without any inside info, I'm going to take a stab at our starters (where there are probably 7-8 possibilities) and a rotation. We really only have one center, Umeh. Everyone else I'm considering as a combo forward. Also, the SF/SG distinction is probably just a construct in my brain. You could just as easily call them all wings.

I think Agara and/or Ogden could start and Agara as well as Umeh will no doubt be needed for quite a lot of minutes to match up against bigger and stronger post players. Ogden, who we have not seen much of at 100% health, is likely very close to Bosgana. Bosgana probably gives us more of a rebounding presence and ability to attack the hoop, but I have high hopes that Ogden is not only healthy, but more also confident and has made that big Frosh-Soph jump. If Heal is going to drive and dish, we might need to maximize our three point depth in our lineups, which might favor Harriel at the other guard more often than some might expect.

F - Stevenson // Agara // Umeh
F - Demetre // Agara // Peterson
SF - Bosgana // Ogden // Peterson (?)
SG - Heal // Harriel // Papadaki
PG - Lepolo // Clardy OR Ijiwoye // Green

A better question is when was the last time Stanford failed to advance past the 1st round (the implied result of a 10 seed). It hasn't happened this millennium.

How many bigger and stronger post players will we face in the ACC?

Between Stevenson, Demetre and Agara, your typical P4 Center will have more height and/or muscle -- enough to push us around in the post

RE: Stanford Women's Basketball 2024-2025 - old spanish trail - 09-21-2024

I think Agara will be able to hold her own vs other PFs. We haven't seen Umeh yet, but fingers crossed. Demetre, Stevenson and Peterson will be fine offensively. Actually, better than fine. Defensively, no clue. A 10 seed is ridiculous.

A lot of national TV games, (I also think IU game will be on national tv too when it's finalized).
Way more than we ever had with Pac12.

Anyone else get a weird feeling looking at that schedule?
I was a season ticket holder for 25 years before moving to the wine country...and it just look strange.

RE: Stanford Women's Basketball 2024-2025 - BobK - 09-24-2024

I saw this 2 days between games last year
In the ACC. Given I live in roseville Thursdays may be out

RE: Stanford Women's Basketball 2024-2025 - petersalas - 09-24-2024

I’m a bit bummed about the Thursday - Sunday schedule because I won’t be able to do my Stanford weekends like the Friday - Sunday schedule allowed because now we’d have to miss work on Friday’s. I am excited about the new opponents coming to Maples though and will try to make it to all games even though we’d have a lot of back and forth’s and it’s about a 2 hour drive for us.

RE: Stanford Women's Basketball 2024-2025 - Jskass - 09-25-2024

We will be challenged in many ways. Maybe good that it's happening on "an off" year - losing our top 3 scorers from last year and with a "new" coach so expectations from outsiders are low. 10 seed and not making it onto pre-season top 25 list will surely light a fire and drive this team to prove the naysayers wrong.

I'm with them -- albeit via TV most of the time, since now being on the East Coast I aim for a (now long) weekend to watch at Stanford and one in the southeast. Trying also to get to watch USC at UConn but can't root for either team? Somehow was easier to cheer for UCLA with Betts because she seemed unhappy/not the right fit vs. feel like USC just threw money at Kiki (for whom probably tough to resist, as with Naja Cannady on softball).

RE: Stanford Women's Basketball 2024-2025 - Spiny_Norman - 09-25-2024

A few observations.

Dec 5 at LSU - this game will take place during Dead Week. Normally Stanford would be off, but I guess we are obligated to play the ACC/SEC Challenge. Bad timing that will probably be a conflict each year. Would be easier to manage if a home game. Maybe next year.

Feb 23 at UVA - this is a Sunday night 6 pm game. The team will probably use a charter to get home, but it will still be an overnight flight. The team arrives back on campus early Monday morning and then turns around to face Miami just 3 days later. That's a tough turnaround.

Feb 6 and Feb 9 - at Notre Dame and at Louisville. Toughest road trip in terms of opponents. At least it comes later in the schedule.

1st three ACC games are all on the road - at Cal, at SMU, at Clemson. All may finish in the bottom half of the ACC standings. All could be tough games. The Stanford team has so many newcomers (including the HC) we don't really know what to expect of it. Still, this is a good way to ease into conference action.

Gave up and went the manual entry route.
