Gianna Kneepkens is a fabulous player and would be an excellent addition if we had room - and if we were able to add grad transfers. This is a subject that will reappear in the future.

Well, we do accept grad transfers but she would've had to already applied to an academic program and been accepted. She finished Utah with a 3.9 cumulative GPA, majored in Health & Kinesiology and was named was Big 12 Scholar-Athlete. Of course, there may be the MLA route but I forget their admissions process time lines, plus CS moved under H&S last year so the CS timelines may now be in keeping with other H&S departments and programs. Oh well - we'll see...

Have we ever over-recruited and had to “cut” someone from the roster? I’m just guessing some other schools may have had that problem.

Bob, I thought we had a full 15 for next year but not 16: 10 returning players (seniors Heal, Lepolo, Papadaki; juniors Agara, Clardy, Ogden, Stevenson; and sophomores Ijiwoye, Peterson, and Umeh) and five incoming. Are you saying that we might have another departure happening? Or am I misunderstanding?

Of course, we are talking roster count here, not scholarship count. Got it.

In short:

Teams will have new roster limits that cannot be exceeded with walk-ons.
Every athlete on a roster is eligible for a full or partial scholarship.
Not every athlete on a roster must have a scholarship.
Every sport is allowed to offer partial scholarships.

Roster limit changes in effect next year:

Women's basketball    --- stays at 15
Women's soccer          --- 14 to 28
Women's volleyball      --- 12 to 18

Men's basketball          --- 13 to 15
Football                       --- 85 to 105
