RE: BC Game Thread - Nan3cy - 09-13-2025

About thirty years ago my husband came home from his handball game with his oldest son and said “You know you’re getting old when you realize your son is going bald.” I wonder if Oliver Luck feels old…

RE: BC Game Thread - fullmetal - 09-13-2025

TRUST THE RUN GAME.

RE: BC Game Thread - ADPinWDC - 09-13-2025

Micah Ford MVP, monster game 17 carries for 157 yards and a TD.   BIG
Defense shut out BC in second half.  Remarkable.

LOL.  Andrew looks a bit nerdy, meow, meow.

All Right NOW!

RE: BC Game Thread - lex24 - 09-13-2025

Didn’t see that coming. Nice win.

RE: BC Game Thread - thunder_chik - 09-13-2025

Yes, YES!  Never bet against the home team!

ESPN says we only have a 17% chance of winning at Virginia next week
I assume that hasn’t been updated from tonight’s game
I assume our chances will now be much higher

RE: BC Game Thread - needle - 09-13-2025

I will be very curious to see tomorrow how the stat gurus view this game.

Tonight, it matters not. The defense was truly outstanding in the second half; Micah Ford is a budding star; Ben Gulbranson can play a whole game with confidence; we all know (now) who Emeka Ugorji is. The remainder of the season is NOT going to be an exercise in futility, and Stanford is NOT the worst P4 team in California (sorry, UCLA).

Sunday morning update: UCLA has fired its HC, the great running back DeShaun Foster. What a difference a week makes!

KalSucks outlasting MINN, up 24-14 with 7min to go.

Tied for first (with GTech & NC State) after ripping through our conference schedule so far!

OK - granted we're just 1-0 in conference, but still!.... :-)

RE: BC Game Thread - needle - 09-13-2025

In the second half, Stanford ran 27 plays and BC ran 27 plays.

Stanford: 6.2 yds per play
BC: 2.5 yds per play

I'm not a stats guy, but I was clearly mistaken when I said Stanford could steal this game. This victory was well earned.

RE: BC Game Thread - newguy - 09-13-2025

ALL RIGHT NOW!!!
like i've been saying, if Gulbranson plays, we're unbeatable.

RE: BC Game Thread - fullmetal - 09-13-2025

I just don't think the oddsmakers have fully weighted a late game, 3 hr timezone change.  Also, apparently we've had a slight offensive identity change too, and for the better at that.

RE: BC Game Thread - Leftcoast - 09-14-2025

For the stats guys out there, when was the last time Stanford ran for over 200 yards in a game?

It’s probably more recent than I think but it FEELS like it’s been at least five years.

Actually, we did it twice last year.  236 yards at Clemson and then 225 yards at home against NC State.

https://www.espn.com/college-football/boxscore/_/gameId/401635516

We also had 209 yards against USC in 2023, 221 yards against USC in 2022, and 203 yards against Vanderbilt in 2021.

Anyone else notice how the ACC assigned ref had a distinct Boston accent?  Not that I seriously thought that meant he was biased towards Boston College...

Definitely a pleasant surprise. Well, at least we won't go 0-12 like some of the cynics have been predicting.

RE: BC Game Thread - jonnyss - 09-14-2025

more big plays by clay patterson. fumble recovery, tackle(s) for loss. in the backfield a lot.

and this game, other players joined him for highlight plays. almost looked like robert saleh was defensive coordinator!
