Exactly. I hate this anxiety. I hope everyone is committed and maybe 3rd year is the charm for Kate and well entire program at this time.

Congratulations to the players who did everything their coaches asked of them. Their energy and optimism (even during that bad ACC losing streak) is to be admired.
But this game and the result is a reflection of a sub-par season for Stanford, most of which is attributed to coaching.
1)-No inside game.
2)-Several times the announcers noted that Stanford "was settling" (for outside shots)
3)-On many occasions, ill advised one on one drives to the basket (which the announcers also noted)
4)-Badly outrebounded (30-46)
5)-Points in the paint discrepancy (28-40)
6)-Stanford did not adjust defense to better contain Ra Shaya Kyle (10 of 12 FG).
7)-Stanford's attempts to screen were ineffective.
I have no inside information about any Stanford player, including the 3 top freshmen, planning to enter the portal, but I would not be surprised if one or two go.
I hope for your sake, the fans sake (who demand much more) and especially for the players' sake (though they must be fiercely loyal) that this will be the last game Kate Paye coaches for Stanford, but I have a feeling that your AD will give her another season. If that happens, I worry that Stanford's playmaking will stay pretty much the same; that the 7 critical factors (described above) will repeat themselves, and even with player improvement the results will not be that much different.

I noticed that the head coach of Miami was not calling the plays during timeouts. It was a blonde assistant coach. Maybe KP should hire a cracker jack offensive mind as an assistant coach in the off season. It might save her job.

Regardless of the personnel issue in the future (coaching et.al.): does anyone know if there are any reasonable ACC off ramps? It certainly sounds as though there may be issues with officiating but then I read about travel and the ACC forcing the CA teams to travel back east to the tournament after refusing to let them have their last series back East to stay there combined with things like making the game 2 hours earlier...and yes I realize that this is merely one sport but question may still have validity.

The question would remain: are the reconstituted Pac-12, MWC, Big West, or WCC going to provide a better home? Would the athletes that Stanford has been lucky enough to attract still want to play for what might become the west coast version of Rice?

There's a rumour out there that Nunu Agara may be transferring out of Stanford by (un)popular X account Skim Mulkey's secret discord - hard to know how serious to take it, but given the state of the program - it's not entirely surprising. I'd hate to see it come true, and really hope that we can keep Nunu and our other talent.

Exactly.
And the question is more complicated because unless your name is Domers, and maybe a few other schools, all your biggest spectator sports move together, or not, to a new conference. So while we could debate about what conference is best for Stanford WBB, it's unlikely to move alone without FB, MBB, and numerous other sports teams going there too. If it did somehow move alone, is likely to be the kiss of death for any hope of any national competitiveness or relevance.

This roster is going to be imploding. There will be transfers out.

This is the time of year when you find out who’s got real sources and who doesn’t, I guess. Post #75 has “Nunu says she’s coming back” and Post # 91, a few hours later, says “There’s a rumor out there that (she) may be transferring out of Stanford.”

Energy wasted on looking for a short-term off-ramp from the ACC is energy not spent on improving the team to compete in the ACC. Does anybody doubt that previous Stanford teams would have been competitive in the ACC.

I’m still hoping she stays. Her mother moved from Min. to San Jose.. I’ve done my part by begging players who I’ve gotten the chance to talk to after games to never leave us. Although, I’m not really anyone that matters or can contribute anything other that my fan support.

It distracts me by making my head hurt. Isn’t the internet wonderful?

There are some wildly different opinions about travel in the ACC for Stanford. Coach Hambly for WVB on several occasions has said the travel really doesn't bother the players. He says the flights are a few hours longer and that's it. He feels they figured out the best routine for dealing with jet lag.
I realize some WBB fans are frustrated at the moment in being knocked out of the conference tournament but give it a few days to put things in perspective. There are no other preferable options in the near future. Nothing even close unless you want to take a massive downgrade out of the power 4 conferences. There's no way in hell the football team is going to do that.
